I’m looking to use a Linux server (possibly physical server) as a mount point for a Hardened Repository and also back it up with the Veeam Agent for Linux. Would it also be possible to use the same Linux server as a Veeam backup proxy?

Yes you can also use it as a Proxy as well but keep in mind resource allocation for each role you assign.

Yes you can, but please be aware of Limitations when you use a setup like you’re wanting. Main issue will be backup job speed, because when you use the same Linux server as both Repository as well as Proxy, you’re limited to NBD (network) mode as your only supported transport mode. If you have Gigabit network, this won’t be too bad, but still significantly less than if you were to use DirectSAN or BfSS.

That just crushed me. 😓 Was hoping to get a 2-for-1. 😂 I got some old hardware (DDR3 generation) I would love to repurpose.
