Here’s the 2nd question for the week. Let’s gooo!!! 😎 #YouGOTthis

The Security Team requires a quarterly spot-check of various VMs to ensure there is no malware on them. As such, you choose to run a Scan Backup operation on a VM housing an Oracle database on Linux. When you attempt to run the Scan, the option is greyed out. Why?

  1. You don't have Veeam Backup Operator permissions
  2. Oracle isn't a supported application to scan
  3. Scans can only be done in a Virtual Lab or during Secure Restore
  4. Scan Backup task can only be done on Windows VMs

It’s Friday, so it’s question answer reveal day!

It appears I stumped a couple of you on this one. Veeam Scan Backup is a feature to only scan VMs, not applications. Because of this, option 2 is not the correct answer. The key to the question is the fact the VM looking to be scanned is Linux OS. Regardless of how the VM is to be scanned, although for this question it’s to be done using the Scan Backup feature, any scan (Secure Restore, Surebackup job) can only be done on Windows VMs…...for now. Linux will be supported “soon”, as shared by PMs in the Forums. And so, the correct answer for this question is #4
