The Course is mandatory if you’ve never taken the Course before. But, as long as you don’t let your cert expire, you don’t need it. I haven’t had to take the Course in over 10yrs. If you let your cert expire, after a certain amount of time, the Course will be required again, but I’m not sure of the definitive timeframe. So for example, if you took the Course for the 2020 DCV exam, and passed the 2020 DCV exam, then you take and pass the 2021 DCV exam, you do not need to additionally take the 2021 Course. Hope that helps. Congrats Geoff! And I can concur on the difficulty level of the exam. I was part of the pilot group in Feb 2020 to help “modernize” the VMCE course. At the end of the training, Veeam provided us a free exam. If we passed..we were VMCE 2020. If no pass, have to re-attempt. I did not pass..by 1pt. And I’ve been using Veeam a better part of a decade. I overthought a few questions I should’ve gotten correct. Regardless, I retook the exam a month later and was successful (only passed by 1pt). Also agree @haslund practice exams are great. And, the video explanations are just fantastic as well. For those who’ve yet to take the exam, even if you’ve used Veeam for a while, I recommend really getting to know the product...including VeeamONE. All the best to those who are looking to take the exam soon.
Hi @JayST -In the Vanguard Slack channels, we discuss ransomware every so often (the more discussions, the better). Several of the ‘Vannies’ are SPs and shared it has been determined ransomware/malware files seem to lay dormant up to around 45 days before they activate. So SPs have increased their retention for immutable storage to 60 days. They didn’t share the source of where they learned about the dormancy days for ransomware so I can’t provide it. Point is, as was stated previously, hackers do think about such things and can (& probably do) modify their code accordingly. Having several different layers of recoverability will lessen your chances of not being able to recover any data.
Good list @Nico Losschaert ! And, you’re for sure correct @vNote42 . With the likes of spectre, and the ‘next-gen spectre’ malware, any kind of A/V may not prove efficient enough. But certainly worthwhile to have. Good stuff gents!
Also FYI, the Cumulative Patch is part of the Install ISO, in case anyone hasn’t yet installed v11 yet (like myself before last week 🙂). So, no need to download the ISO and Cumulative Patch...all you need is the ISO.Cheers!

As a person who has experienced BOTH - my house broken into/robbed; and my org hit with malware (morphed into ransomware), I can say indeed...BE RESPECTFUL, TACTFUL, empathetic, and compassionate. Experiencing either is not necessarily caused by lack of BC/DR expertise, or for housing..lack of security measures. A hacker, or burglar, will find a way if they truly are “gung-ho” about breaking into a home or org. Good share @eprieto .Cheers!

It was HPE’s idea of course. That should tell you all you need to know. Since they bought them a few yrs ago, you knew something like this was going to happen sooner or later.
Veeam does take a storage snap in this config. You have the IQN (i.e. “permissions) of the Proxy assigned to the Volume on the Nimble; the same Proxy is added explicitly for the b/u job in VBR, a Storage Snap is triggered, and then a backup taken off of this Snap.

@Mounet ...not yet. Keep in mind the MAC Agent is only in v1… i.e. initial release. It’ll gain traction with more features soon, like the other 2 Agents (Wndows/Linux). Stay tuned! :)
