Veeam file browser hangs

Hi BobLF ,May I suggest you to check all the ports and ensure that they are open. For file level recoveries and for restores that are certain ports. I do not remember it top of my head but it doest need some port for this browsing. I am leaning towards ports 6173 and 2500. I had this issue while the browsing page doesnt populate as it keeps trying to reach the respective server.  For my use-case, this wasnt important and so I always either proactively noted down the required/desired paths and  manually entered it.

No more Status Mails after upgrade to VBR v12 and Linux Agendt v6

Hi ,You can check and increase the email size ( and file attachement size) on the SMTP server settings itself.  Default installations have smaller file size limit. Perhaps increasing the size limit may help you send the emails in case the report size has increased.

How to backup a 200tb Windows Server

It has one drive letter but underneath it is really x2 100TB volumes.  Individually still breaches the 64TB VSS limit.  As @Jmeixner stated, you can take bakup via multiple backup jobs.  You can use dikpart from windows and split the drives into smaller chunks  ( e.g. 4 * 50TB   or more) and then add each drive letter to different backup job with different backup timings.

Rename Veeam server

Problem solved without deleting enterprise manager, just install and replace without uninstalling then all targeted links changed.   Thank you for your support. Perfect! you found a solution to your own query :D  and thanks for sharing the resolution step!

Rename Veeam server

Thanks for the update. IMHO, this leaves us with reinstalling only the Enterprise Manager part of installation.  This will definitely come up with the new name linking to https 9443

Changing vCenter Name on Veeam

Thats a neat way.  However, in my practice, I always performed as follows:Ensure DNS resolutions are speck-clean.  If no DNS, then create entry in hosts file with both short and FQDN of vcenter server. Go to VBR Console and Delete/remove the resource with IP. Add the vcenter infra again with name followed by rescan.

Rename Veeam server

Yes, the shortcut will still be linked to old address.  The best way is to delete the shortcut and launch EM with new name.You already tried editing the file and it works as a expected work around.Once you delete the shortcut from the Desktop, you can restart the EM services and then  you can navigate to windows > All programs > Veeam > Veeam Enterprise Manager , right click and ‘Open file location’ . From there create a new shortcut icon.Needs administrator privilege to do so.Hope this helps.

Looks like if February 14th one person will come close the day before.  🤣 haha, I ran through my emails to find my post :P   and I am a day closer i.e. 13th Feb.  Theres also another person who commented as 16-Feb about 23 days ago.  :D  :DShould I be excited? :D :P

Veeam Agent for Linux - Linux systems data backups of larger than 2TB volume

Hi,Veeam agent for linux supports maximum size of 218TB, so you can proceed with taking backup of your >2TB linux machine.Ensure that you have enabled CBT ( changed block tracking).In backup job enable larger streams, higher parallelism. This may need you to check your proxy,VBR, repository specifications to be increased to accomodate more streams.If the backup workload is high generally, it would make sense to identify a lean period and kick-off this machine backup.If for some reasons the backup is taking too long, then you can break it down by taking specific mounts as volume backups spread across different backup jobs.You can go through agent guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agentforlinux/userguide/architecture.html?ver=50

Thanks for the article @ddomask . My comment was probably on some trials that I did and when it errored I didnt wish to continue troubleshooting at that time.@StevenMSTech  thanks for updating the question with resolution.  Going by this, it looks like some backup chain was missing or old backup job was holding some information and probably it kept trying to reach out. Once the jobs were deleted and removed from cache, they helped with successful rescan.I agree with you on timely rescans. Adding this step as part of maintenance :)

Chances that there is another repo with F:\ under SOBR.  or subfolder contents under F:\Backup copy are part of another sobr.  One SMB share and another NFS extent also wont work

Error: Bad allocation

Are these errors on linux machines being backed up? If yes,> check the path that is being backed up. If they are mountpoints/shares/ then ensure they are online and there are no sync errors on it. Some times, few administrators create scripts to copy their data over from a certain locaiton (same server or another) to target mountpoint. > Edit the user account and see if root credentials resolve the issue.

Failed to perform backup file verification Error: ChannelError: ConnectionReset

Chances are, the account that has access to the repository has expired and need to be renewed.DNS lookup failures. ( workaround: identify the name and IP on which you want to communicate and then make a manual entry in the hosts file)Additionally, check the account which has been used to configure vmware vcenter with VBR. If the user account fails on vcenter then too it will not allow to pass connections.

How to fix a VSS: Backup job failed. [Microsoft Exchange Writer]

does this error occur all the time or only during specific time periods?  If specific time then it would make sense to check if the exchange server is doing any internal backup operations of its own to create its local backup copy.And, yes the writer should be listed as active and noerror on it.  If its says locked/unavailable /stopped then there is probably some other application holding a lock-onto this.

Veeam Backup for Windows Performance.

If you are taking windows backups via snapshot method, then you need to ensure that the VMTools are installed for this machine. Additonally there is need of dedicated proxy servers to aid with backup. Also that the backup should go with hot-add transport modes. If its using other modes of transport, then kindly check with vmware admin if there is something that is blocking the connectivity amongst VBR, proxies, esxi datastores and disks of VM. For agent based windows servers, ensure name resolution is working correct ( both fwd and reverse) ; ensure the bandwidth is not 1gbps and that other traffic is not flowing through same port ; enable jumbo-frames on the windows servers and ensure the network can accomodate jumbo frames as well.
