Support for 1.27

Hello, Kubernetes 1.27 was released 2 month ago. I want to upgrade cluster but there is no information about support K8S 1.27 by Kasten K10. Anyone have any experience with K10 6.0 and K8S 1.27? When 1.27 will be officially supported?

Is the export of windows volumes possible?

Hi there, I was trying out Kasten as a complete backup solution for my EKS k8s cluster. I was able to succcessfully export volumes of linux pods to S3 but I get mounting problems with the export of windows volumes. Is it possible to export windows volumes somehow?

Logical Backup for RabbitMQ

Hello everyone, we need configure a backup policy for RabbitMQ and define a logical backup for application consistency. I looking for an example kanister blueprint, similar at those available in Kasten documentation for Postgress, Mongo and so on. Even in kanister github repository I can’t find nothing about it. Kasten10 Azure snapshot incremental copy between different regions

Hi all, I’m wondering if Kasten support already the copy of incremental volume snapshot between different region in Azure (Snapshot reference export i mean). By default it will start the job with a full snapshot copy even if the source volume snapshot is incremental. Thanks a lot Davide

K10 and restoration of kubevirt virtualmachine

Hello, I have installed k10 and Kubevirt. The backup of a namepasce is running just fine : But when I try to restore it, I have an error : If you look at the details : You can see it does not recognize a ‘k8sType’ ‘virtualmachine’ which is a CRD. Did I miss something during configuration ? Regards,

Ceph RBD - Kasten still creates leftover orphaned RBD images

Following up from this: I have my backup policies to only keep 1 backup (for exporting) to S3 compatible. I have a reasonably fresh Ceph cluster with 33 images. Earlier I noticed 35 images, some image(s) have been created by Kasten K10 that haven’t been deleted properly… (and an unexpected increase in disk space usage)In Ceph trash I see two images that it can’t delete because of error: [errno 39] RBD image has snapshots (error deleting image from trash)So I run this: for x in $(rbd list --pool ceph-blockpool); doecho "Listing snapshots for $x:"rbd snap ls ceph-blockpool/$xdone for x in $(rbd list --pool ceph-blockpool); do rbd snap ls ceph-blockpool/$x done The output doesn’t show any snaps for images…When I try and gather more info about the two images that can’t be purged:rbd status ceph-blockpool/csi-snap-9cafd9dd-7fa2-40cc-b0fd-69c937008228rbd: error opening image csi-snap-9cafd9dd-7fa2-40cc-b0fd-69c937008228: (2) No such file or directoryrbd status ceph-blockpool/csi-snap-4795fab

Fatal glibc error: CPU does not support x86-64-v2

Hello, Ran into this error when building a new K8s kubeadm v1.26.5 cluster. I can install K10 v5.5.2 but all versions higher will fail the ‘gateway’ pod with this error. Nothing in the logs except this single entry. Looked at the release notes from v5.5.3+ but cannot find any mention that might alert me to the cause. I suspect there is a base image being pulled in that is not compatible with the underlying hardware. Kasten multiple export locations

Hi team, I’d like to know how to handle multiple export locations. Do we need to keep it at a storage level? Is it supported with NFS storage (where replication is handled at storage level) with different IP addressing? Can we use an import policy pointing to the “DR IP” of the replicated storage NFS volume? Thank you. Mattia

error in kasten on google kubernetes engine

i Have google kubernetes engine in v1.22, so try to install kasten 5.5.9. When deploy kasten in google kubernetes engine, have the error: k8s.io/client-go@v0.25.2/tools/cache/reflector.go:169: Failed to watch *v1.ClusterIssuer: failed to list *v1.ClusterIssuer: request to convert CR from an invalid group/version: cert-manager.io/v1alpha2 If i try to install the last kasten version, everything was fine, but the jobs fails because use a unsupported kubernetes version.

Azure AKS: Multiple user assigned identities exist

Dear Folks,I’m trying since hours to attach to my Kasten K10 application the infrastructre profile for Microsoft Azure.Sadly, I’m failing with following error: Multiple user assigned identities exist, please specify the clientId / resourceId of the identity in the token request. Maybe to say, in the same subscription there is a second AKS cluster and I was able to add the infrastructure profile months ago without any problems. It looks to me like there are multiple Managed Identities, but Kasten K10 doesn't know which one to use. Do you have any idea how this could be solved? Regards

Kasten K10 DR Backup Context Deadline Exceeded

Hi, I am trying to take backup of K10 DR and it is failing after 45m everytime. I have tried to increase the KastenBackupTimeout to 150m but still it fails at 45m. This is an openshift environment on-premise. K10 Kasten - PVCs Snapshot restore fails with context deadline exceeded

We are using Kasten K10 v5.5.0, MinIO as S3 storage. Our application (RabbitMQ) is deployed in a AKS cluster in HA with 3 nodes and we backup the snapshot of the PVCs successfully. After reinstalling the application in order to simulate a disaster recovery, we meet the following error during the restore phase, using as restore point the one related to MinIO storage: Restoring Application Components failure If instead we use the restore point native to the cluster, our restore is successfully. So the problem is only related to the case in which the restore point is the one outside the cluster. We don’t think this issue could be related to some timeout into k10-config configmap because our restore procedure fails just after a minute and those values are greater. Do you have any idea about this error? Thank you in advance for your support and let me know if you need other details.

Feature Request: Azure Storage Private Link

Dear Veeam Team, I would like to place a feature request with you. However, I am not sure if this is placed correctly here. If not, please let me know. I noticed that an external export to a Microsoft Azure storage is possible, but what I miss a bit in a productive operation is the access from Kasten K10 to the Azure storage internally via private link and not via public interface. Is there a possibility to extend the dropdown with a self defined URI endpoint for such cases? Regards

Kasten Error code 137 in block-upload pod on large Kasten backup

Hi, We would like to backup some large PVC (+ 5To) running with vSAN CSI. Snapshot running great but export in block mode run fail after 20 minutes with a code exit 137. I thought it was a memory problem, but looking at the system consumption, I don't see any overconsumption. unable to access k10 dashboard, 403 UAEX

Hi Guys, we are trying to evaluate k10, very simple install on a testing cluster, the pre-flighty and install are all running fine, but after port forwarding, I can’t access the dashboard here is the install command and port forwarding: helm install k10test kasten/k10 --namespace=kasten-io --set prometheus.server.enabled=false --set grafana.enabled=false kubectl --namespace kasten-io port-forward service/gateway 8080:8000 gateway log shows 403 UAEX, but I don’t have any network policies or external auth service is there a way to access the dashboard without the gateway? Thanks

Free Starter License maximum nodes decreased

Hey all, small question: I have seen in the release notes of v5.0 that the free starter license we are using, will be decreased from 10 to 5 nodes. Will this also affect my starter license enabled in my k10 deployment? I am afraid, that I cant backup my 6 nodes cluster after that upgrade anymore. Thanks a lot. EDIT: Seems like veeam k10 doesnt count the master nodes that cant schedule pods, is this right?

Blueprint from the K10 website documentation

Hi I spun up the example used on the K10 documentation page for Postgresql Application Consistent backup but it looks like that blueprint no longer works. https://docs.kasten.io/latest/kanister/postgresql/install_app_cons.html On quick inspection I see this error: message: Failed to create pre-backup Kanister phase - cause: cause: message: "Failed to exec command in pod: container postgres-postgresql is not valid for pod postgres-postgresql-0" but the container deployed by that chart is in fact named postgresql container name I have not done a lot with Blueprints yet so will want to dig deeper but I assume my next step is to change this part of the blueprint to represent the right container name? I have also attached the logs.

[Flux CD]Exporting metadata fails - Invalid token reference error

We use GitOps with FluxCD... I added new Profiles and Policies as *.yaml into k10. They all got accepted/validated, but as soon as the policy runs they all fail with the error message “exporting metadata failed”. I found this post which is related i think.
