How to Increase CDP Proxy Cache

Forum|alt.badge.img+2

Not sure if I am missing something obvious but I have been poking around and I can’t find how to increase a CDP Proxy cache, without removing and re-adding. Thats seems a bit drastic and alot more work. Anyone been across this before ?

Thanks

Phil

Hi all @Airless  I've already done this before, and today I just ran a test. I increased and decreased the CDP size while it was in use, and everything worked fine, without delte, destroy or do anything else :-)
This test was performed on build 12.1.1.56.
I think it's worth opening a support ticket to find out why it didn't work on your installation.

You can increase the CDP Proxy cache size without removing it, using PowerShell.

But if it fails or doesn't apply correctly, you may need to remove and re-add the proxy.

Ah brilliant Matheus - thank you !

I will go and have a play and see where I get. But I guess this is confirmation that it can’t be done by right clicking in the gui. I wonder if that would be a valid feature request or if this is so rare Veeam would not waste good dev resource ?

@Airless -

Good find @matheusgiovanini !

Don’t use CDP personally, but my guess is like what you stated “airless”...probably so rare of a need that it’s not in the UI; but common enough to at least have a PoSH cmd for it.

You of course could go over on the Forums to discuss with the Veeam PMs having it as a feature request, or at least ask how often it’s needed….if they know. Heck, it may be something coming out in v13. Veeam does generally track many features/tasks customers use though. Doesn’t hurt to ask 😊

You're exactly right, as of now, there's no option in the Veeam GUI to change the CDP proxy cache size directly via right-click or settings menus. It has to be done via PowerShell.

And yes, this could be a valid feature request! Even if it's a niche use case, adding the option in the GUI would make it more accessible.

Thanks both - very interesting. Posted over on the Forums so I will see where that goes.

As always - appreciate the input.

No problem @Airless . Let us know what the PMs say if you think of it.

Thanks @AndrePulia really helpful.

I actually found this too and made the change the same way you did - I hadn’t gotten round to updating the thread !

Appreciate your response - have a great weekend !
