How to configure Microsoft 365 Modern Authentication for Notification on Veeam Backup for Azure

Hello guys! It’s possible to use Modern Authentication for E-mail Notifications in Veeam Public Cloud products, but we need a few additional steps outside the product, so I thought it’s a good idea show how to perform the steps needed to use Microsoft 365 with Modern Authentication to send Email Notifications. In this guide, I will demonstrate the process using Veeam Backup for Azure, but all the steps are the same for Veeam Backup for AWS and Veeam Backup for Google Cloud. 1) In Settings - Email we can find the section to enable the notifications: 2) Click on “Enable email notifications” to open the Email Server Settings. 3) We have to change to Modern on “AUthentication” field and to “Microsoft” to “Mail service”: 4) Now we need to create an Application in the Microsoft 365 tenant to authorize the appliance to authenticate and send e-mails.In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center we have to go to the Azure Active Directory: 5) You will be redirected to the “Microsoft Entra Admin Center”.Fro

Dear All, I have recently installed Veeam backup for M365, and after the setup i designed to resize the disk from “standard_F2s_v2” to “Standard_B1ls” and i found its generate one more VM from azure with cpu standard_F2s_v2 itself, just wonder am i allow to resize the disk ? any help would be appreicated

Exploring Veeam Backup Deployment Options for Microsoft 365 Data Protection

Many organizations still don’t realize that backing up Microsoft 365 data is their responsibility. With the introduction of Veeam Data Cloud and Veeam Vault, I wanted to write a guide detailing the deployment options available to customers and reiterate the importance of backing up Microsoft 365 data. Scalable performance and high availability are now built in with the introduction of Proxy Pools and a the NATs queue that manages the processing of proxy tasks. We can now add or remove proxies from a proxy pool during backup processing and the queue will redistribute any remaining tasks among the active proxies. VB365 Proxy Automation - Part 3 (AWS)

Background How the Proxy Automation works Configure Monitor Background With the release of VB365 v8, several awesome features (NATs, Proxy Pools, PostgreSQL cache DB, etc) were added to the product that add performance benefits and high availability for VB365 Proxy deployments. These features open the door to some possible proxy automations. The main benefit that came to mind and started this project is about efficiency and minimizing costs for deployments in the cloud. This has been a multi-part project that I hope will start the ball rolling for some even greater community projects to fully take advantage of these capabilities. Learning Azure Through Community: Veeam Enters the Chat

As I’ve been learning Azure, I’ve been using Microsoft Word for various note taking and writing tasks. Every time I open that app, I think of college. I have a philosophy degree and spent a lot of late nights writing papers. I didn’t have a computer at home until I was well into college, so I had to learn to use Word while also learning and writing material for my classes. My freshman year, I was writing an essay about Plato that was due the following day. I had procrastinated of course and was looking at an all-nighter. Inevitably, the computer crashed. This was in 1999 when you had to manually save your work. I hadn’t done that and lost most of the essay. Lesson learned. I started saving my documents after every paragraph and sometimes even in multiple locations. To this day, even though OneDrive saves my work automatically, I manually click that floppy disk icon all the time. I think it’s interesting that even as a college student, studying something totally unrelated to technology,

Veeam Data Cloud Microsoft 365: Remove Deleted Sites from Backup Jobs

So, you’ve just completed a bit of data management on your SharePoint/Microsoft Teams estate, and now your Veeam Data Cloud Microsoft 365 (VDC:M365) job reports are showing warnings, how do you fix this? This is a nice simple one: Navigate to Backup Jobs, find your backup job that is protecting these resources, in my scenario as I’m on a fixed license, I had a single job called ‘Shared objects backup’. Select your backup job and choose ‘Manage backup’ from the top of the screen. At the top of the job configuration screen, you’ll see that by default you’re taken to ‘M365 Users and Groups’, but you’ve got another tab called ‘SharePoint Sites and Teams’, click on this option. You’ll then see two sections here, one is called ‘Add more items’, allowing you to add additional SharePoint or Teams sites. The other is called ‘Backup items’, everything listed under here is currently being protected. Check the ones you want to remove and then click ‘Delete’. We’ll be asked to confirm we want to de

Hi everyone, With the year well underway, we’re planning on being very busy over here at Cloud City, and why not? We saw 2023 end with updates to all of Veeam’s cloud hyperscale data protection products, VB365 v8 round the corner, the official rebranding and 1.5 update to the Veeam Data Cloud, and we’ve not even made it to VeeamON yet for what Veeam have waiting up their sleeve! With this in mind there’s a lot to talk about, and a lot to share! So whilst @HangTen416 and I are finalising the virtual events calendar, we thought we’d kick off the call for papers. So, what do you want to share with the Veeam community this year? Learn how to create VPC, Subnet, NACL, Security Group on AWS instead of using the defaults

Veeam Backup for AWS - Data Mobility to Azure/VMware and Immutability!

Hey all in Cloud City! First post here - which hopefully is in the correct section (I’m relatively new to the community pages). I performed a demonstration earlier this week, that was around protecting AWS EC2’s, RDS etc but with immutability. So I attempted deletion of backup data from the Veeam Backup for AWS console and the S3 bucket and the data was still there - fantastic. As immutability is pretty easy for Veeam to enable, I thought I’d sow some extra value into the demonstration with Veeam recovery from AWS to Azure. I also performed a copy of the immutable S3 data to an immutable repo “on premises” and restored my EC2 backup instantly/rapidly to VMware also. I appreciate there’s been videos on these topics before, but I thought it’d be good to revisit these topics. Welcome to Cloud City! 

This Veeam User Group exists to provide a centralised location to discuss Veeam's Public Cloud and SaaS solutions, namely M365, AWS, Azure, GCP, and Salesforce. We want to facilitate discussion around our successes and struggles with these Veeam products so we can all learn how to best protect the data within the cloud.

Hin is a Cloud Solutions Architect based in Canada who started working as a customer with Veeam for Hyper-V and later transitioned to supporting both the Hyper-V and the VMWare products on the service provider side. Currently, he is focusing on the Veeam backup products for Public Cloud. Hin holds current VMCE2021 and VMCA2022 as well as Azure and AWS certification. Hin has been a Veeam Legend since 2023 and is looking forward to enabling deeper learning on all the Veeam Cloud products through this VUG.
