If we have established backups for a server, and we add an additional disk to said server, will and should Veeam automatically recognize and start backing up the newly added disk?

Hi bp4JC,

If you selected the complete machine, new disks are automatic detected and added to the backup. Only if you specify dedicated disks, the selection will remain the same when adding additional disks.

New disks will be backed up automatically as Kristof said.

I have to be careful because I manually exclude disks on specific servers.

That being said under disk exclusions you have a few options

Process all disks  (This is the default)

  • New disks will be added automatic

Disk 0:0 only

  • New disks will not be added

Selected disks

  • New disks will not be added
