Hello, I wanted to be sure that fast clone is enabled but I can’t see it anywhere. As I remember on v11 it was written in the “Action” description.I’m using Synology NAS connected directly via iSCSI to the Windows Server 2022.It’s formatted as ReFS (64KB).You can see that it was a Synthetic Full but FastClone nowhere to be seen.
Hello,I would like to know why are there so many differences in performance of BCJ?This is all in one BCJ.Result of already finished one: Results of currently running one:
Hello Forum,Since I’m reconstructing everything I would like to seek some advices for WAN accelerators. We have Primary Site (Austria, Vienna) and Secondary Site (Serbia, Novi Sad).Backup to Primary:Backup Jobs going to Synology LUN that is connected via iSCSI to Windows Server (ReFS 64KB block size) + FastClone From Monday to Friday - Incrementals On Friday - Full Synthetic Backup 21:00 - 22:00 starting of the Backup Jobs Backup to Secondary:I would like to try and implement WAN Accelerators for this so that potentially we have better performance. 2 Source WAN Accelerators. 1 for large VMs and 2 for small VMs 1 Target WAN Accelerator.Question regarding Backup Copy Job:As I’ve read some documentation about WAN Accelerators I checked that Source WAN Acc should have better CPU performance so it doesnt need to be some high I/O performance device and for Target WAN Acc is opposite, is thsi true? Plan is then to use physical Windows Machine with SSD on Target WAN Accelerator How would I appr
Hello,How would my Backup copy Job chain look?Backup Jobs are 7 restore points (Incrementals + Synthetic Fulls)Backup Copy Jobs will also have 7 Restore points. As I’m going trough some old discussions I can see that with Forward incrementals and first Full Backup with backup copy jobs everything has stay above 7 restore points. Also one more question, do I need to seed backup copy jobs if I’m going to use WAN Acceleration in High Bandwidth Mode
Hello to all Backup solutions architects 😀, I will need advice in configuration of our Backups so that I can achieve as close as possible to the 3-2-1-1-0 rule. Our Current Backup Infrastructure is as follow:1 x Synology RS3621xs+ in Vienna, Austria.1 x Synology RS3621xs+ in Novi Sad, Serbia.1 x Synology DiskStation DS1019+ in Novi Sad, Serbia.I wanted to implement Wasabi to our Infrastructure but didn’t get the green light, it is not approved. Current Backups are setup in the following:1. All our critical infrastructure is being backed up to the NAS in Vienna with this configuration:I had an topic where we discussed about not needing Synthetic Full Backups periodically and Active Full Backups both enabled for the job. Need more opinions on this since I’m not professional in Veeam.Current Configuration is set up like this: I created a Backup Copy Jobs on “Immediate Copy (mirroring) using the two WAN Accelerators. 1 is for our largest VM and 2 is used for other smaller size VM’s all to
Me again with new topic 😁At the moment our VBR Server is located on the Hyper-V Host where are also the 50% of VMs that we are backing up. Without Using Off-Host proxies I can guess that all load will come to Hyper-V host which is hosting VMs and VBR also.I guess that data movers from source VM and VBR are run on the Hyper-V host itself. What would be the best practice for placement of VBR?Is it good idea then to isolate it from the VMs that we are backing up or?I can host it on some Hyper-V Host which doesn’t have productive VMs or anyAlso then our off-host backup proxy should be physical machine or somewhere where we also dont have anything?
Hello,I would need some general advices in creating Backup Copy Jobs.Is it okay to choose every Backup Job and insert it in the Backup Copy Job, as I can see there is no option to create in which order they will perform etc.
Hello,Are there any advices on how to have better performance for our “air-gapped” or “immutable” backup on site.We have two locations, Austria and Serbia.VBR Server is located in Austria where our critical infrastructure resides also.Veeam is configured to do regular Backups to the Synology NAS located also in Austria. After that we configure to do Backup Copy Jobs (immidiate) from Austria to Serbia. In Serbia we have one main Synology NAS and other one also Synology for air-gapped.I would try to do something like this:1. Configure Power Schedule on NAS to be powered only on weekends.2. Configure Backup Copy Jobs and chose source as Serbia backups that are already copied from Austria and send it to the smaller NAS in Vienna. There is also few other solutions, to automate this with rsync if possible, to manual copy from one nas to another, or just to create regular backup jobs but then it will go trough IPSec and it will be a lot slower. Is there any option to connect them maybe directly
Hello Forum,I’m getting this weird error now: What could be a cause for this, two Backup Jobs finished successfully and now I get this error and its stuck.
Is there any best practices when implementing these two into work?Currently we have it setup as a SMB share folders and Veeam is sending backups to it.I did a little bit of research and saw that people are using ISCSI and connecting Synology drive to Windows Server and using it like that. As I can see they are using ReFS File System. What would be the best optimization when we have Veeam + Synology in our Environment.Veeam B&R and our main Synology are located in the same location within same subnet. After that main Backup is done we have a Backup Copy Job trough IPSec to our Branch Office where we also have Synology NAS with SMB share. With ISCSI I saw that people are using FastClone and I’m not familiar with it at all. What is the use of it?Any advices are welcomed 😀
