VeeamON 2024 - Use Code "COMMUNITY10" for 10% Off!
There is a rather old thread on the forums about this topic, but it should still work like described there.
But the issue is when we install plug-in, the SBT_TAPE library will be updated to Veeam and with that backup to tape will stop. Now I am not an oracle expert which is why I am asking. There is also the option “Export configuration into a file for manual setup”. Use this instead of “Apply configuration to the Oracle environment” after running through the plugin configuration wizard.Exported Veeam plugin configuration consists of 2 files: veeam_config.xml and rman_config.txtYou can use the contents of the rman_config.txt file to customize your RMAN backup script in order to write to the Veeam repository without setting it as a default, so the original/existing RMAN backup script will still use the existing default target.
It‘s a „tied“ #1, i.e. both Veeam and Dell are considered to be #1 because the difference in market share is less than 0.5%
Hi @SteveF, the new DXi V5000 looks really interesting. Nowadays, I play around with it and my first impresion is very positive. Nevertheless, I would like to ask you regarding Quantum DXi V5000 integration with Veeam. How does it work? I have created NFS share within Quantum DXi V5000 and then set this share as repository in Veeam. Are there any other types of integration with Veeam? Any response will be much appreciated! You can add it as a “Deduplicating storage appliance” when adding it as a repository. It’s also mentioned in the user guide.
Welcome to the Veeam Community, Manish!According to your screenshot, you seem to be using a wrong username format.\\172.16.1.6\Administrator...is not going to work. You should use a format of either DOMAIN\USERNAME or COMPUTERNAME\USERNAME. If COMPUTERNAME is unknown (it’s not shown in your screenshot), you could also try USERNAME only, without using any additonal information or characters.
You could at least check the most recent result of the configuration backup (which basically includes relevant parts of the Veeam configuration database) with a simple Powershell command:(Get-VBRConfigurationBackupJob).LastResultThere may be even more info available in this job object, I haven’t investigated very much yet…Powershell reference - Configuration Backup
You can exclude SQL DBs from application aware processing and/or SQL Log backups but be aware that the databases will still be included in the image backups. So you will not see a reduction in the image backup sizes when excluding DBs from processing.Description of how exclusions can be configured:Enable SQL Database exclusions from application-aware image processingHow to exclude MS SQL Databases from SQL Log backup
Access tape via share isn’t a bit risky? When I think about tape, I think about last resort backup and restricted to NAS structure only. I’m not sure I fully understand your comment, could you please explain or rephrase? Thanks!
Thanks, please let me know how it works for you!
