I have completed the virtual machine backup POC using two backup solutions: Veeam Backup & Replication v12 and a third-party backup software integrated with Veeam (SupDRC). Below is a summary of the POC results.
Veeam Data Platform and Huawei and Datacenter Virtualization Solution (DCS)
VM Backup and Recovery test: Passed
Instand Recovery: Passed
Immutable Backup: Passed
Veeam application-aware: Passed
It can provide more advanced features and will have Veeam direct support service.
SupDRC and Huawei DCS
VM Backup and Recovery test (Agentless): Passed
Instand Recovery: No
Immutable Backup: No
Veeam application-aware: No
It will not have any Veeam advanced features, e.g. Veeam malware / Veeam application-aware …etc.
This support service will be provided directly by Huawei, with no Veeam support included.
Based on the above tests, I recommend that my customer continue using Veeam for VM protection.
