Our first in-person event this year was a hit.

Just under 2 years ago we started the VUG with about 6 attendees. This event we had 28 participants. Maybe it was the pizzas afterwards or was it the content?

With the VUG BeLux, we try to bring all Veeam fans together to exchange thoughts, best practices and information. It is therefore nice to see cross-partner information exchange and all of us sharing knowledge and experiences.

Every VUG more and more attendees !

Our event took place at TD Synnex in Aalst. A more or less central location for both people coming from the region of Brussels / Antwerp than for interested from East and West Flanders.
Thanks again to them for making their accomodation available, much appreciated!

We started the official part with some self shot footage from VeeamOn. After all, it was less than a week ago that we were in Miami to hear all the new announcements first hand. Belgium and Luxembourg has many small organizations and customers. It is therefore important to be able to properly translate the new features into day-to-day use cases applicable to customers.

Important was of course the support for ProxMox but also the availability of VBR on Linux in version 13 received a lot of interest.

I then tried myself to do as good an imitation as possible of the general session in which the backup for Entra ID was announced. Including the 'anonymous' hacker who performed a modification in Entra ID in order to show how easy it is to restore properties or entire objects from the backup.

Trying to imitate the anonymous hacker from the general session at VeeamOn...

AI was of course not to be missed either. We went deeper into the possibilities and how it is and will be incorporated into future versions of Veeam products.

Many partners wonder if there will come a time when Veeam will also organize a VeeamOn in EMEA. Now organized in The States, this really is a big and expensive move to attend. If for example in Barcelona, a lot more local partners would come down to see it in person.

After the break it was up to Timothy Dewin from Veeam to show us all the in's and out's of immutable hardened repos. As we are used to from Timothy, he does not shy away from a challenge and the presentative was quickly changed to a live session in his lab to show us how easy it is to set up a hardened repository

But also the extra settings and tweaks to really close as many loopholes as possible and make the system as resilient as possible.

In short, a nice mix of some deeper technical stuff combined with the general roadmap and update on what's coming up for Veeam fans in the short term.

Closing we did as announced with pizza to catch up. Contrary to what Rick thought during one of the previous recaps we were all well on our way home by 20:00h.

@Rick Vanover , if you attend one of the next VUG’s in Belgium we can of course always catch up with some special Belgian beers.

That looked like an awesome event! But where is the banner ? Still a mystery 😁

Haha, the mistery of the banner…

It was in the trunk of a Veeam employee who forgot to bring it with him during the event.

In the meantime we received it and it is shining all days for every visitor and ready for the next event. I will post a picture here soon.

These Veeamers 😋

Very nice summary Kristof. I noticed all the pleasure and motivation at the attendees as soon as I entered, so I knew they were in good hands. It’s a pitty I didn’t have the chance to stay any longer.

I’ll send the url to Anton so he can judge the hacker-immitation 😉

It was an honor to give some extra VEEAM news to so many enthusiastic spectators 😊.

In some time we will give a webinar but first a bit of holiday soon 😎 which will be very welcome
