It’s the last day of April, so why not end it on a good note by posting another VTT VMCE practice question? 😊 Let’s get to it…

For those new to the VMCE page, please hide your comment (guess). To do so → before typing your response, click the ellipsis (3 dots) icon on the far right of the format toolbar at the top in your comment box and select the Spoiler option. This will place a ‘hide comment’ text box in your comment box area. Click inside this hide comment text box and start typing your answer (guess). Be careful to not click outside of the box or your comment will show after saving. We want your comment to not show after clicking the Send button so others can take full advantage of these practice questions. And, please no need to do a ‘quote’ comment of this question; I would like to keep these practice questions neat. Let me know if you have issues.

Also, I want to give you the Community a big kudos for engaging with these questions each week. You all make this VMCE Study Hall page GO! If anyone has any suggestions for content, don’t hesitate to give me a DM of any ideas you have. Good luck on the question!

That would be the Guest Interaction Proxy. (In which some cases could be the Veeam Backup Server if no other Windows servers are available)

c - Guest Interaction Proxy

Veeam Backup & Replication Server

For VMs running Linux or Unix operating systems, non-persistent runtime components are deployed from the backup server.

Alright folks, here’s the answer to this week’s VTT VMCE practice question…

There really isn’t too much to discuss here. This question just involves knowing Veeam components and what does what. With this in mind, we can remove 2 options straight away → a. and d. Now all we need to determine is how Veeam deploys runtime components. And that should also be fairly easy if you’ve used Veeam for a while. The answer is via the Guest Interaction Proxy. BUT...the question states the VM to receive the runtime component is Linux. When this is the case, the GiP is not used because GiP’s are used for Windows only; leaving b. Veeam Backup & Replication Server as the correct answer. For further info/reading, see below URL:

Hello, for VMCE V12 is this not “In VMs with another guest OS, the non-persistent runtime components or persistent agent components are deployed by the backup server?” Meaning that it would be the backup & replication server not the guest interaction proxy?
