Hello VeeamON! Introduce Yourself

This space is dedicated to you sharing information about yourself, discovering like-minded professionals, and making those vital connections before we all meet at VeeamON. Here’s how to make the most of this thread:

  • Introduce Yourself: Jump in and post a brief introduction. Include your name, expertise, specialty, and what technology area you’re passionate about. Share what you want to achieve at VeeamON and with whom you’d like to connect. Here’s a chance to highlight your interests or any challenges you’re facing that fellow attendees might help with.
  • Schedule Meetings: If someone's introduction resonates with you, don’t hesitate! Move to private messages to continue the conversation and set up a face-to-face meeting during VeeamON. We suggest using the Veeam Village as a meeting point to ensure you don’t miss the chance to connect in person.

Take this opportunity to engage, it will be so nice to see familiar faces when you finally arrive at VeeamON. Checkout the story from the past VeeamON by @Scott . You never know—the proper connection could be just a post away!

Good morning fellow Veeamers! I am Shane Williford, a Systems Architect in the Education space, based in Kansas City. I’m currently a Veeam Legend and former Veeam Vanguard, and have been passionate about Veeam ever since I began using it close to 15 years now.

I’ve been in the Customer arena my whole IT career (25 years). My areas of expertise are →  infrastructure, BC/DR, storage, and occasionally dabble in automation and, more recently, Linux implementation. I’m quite passionate about helping the Tech Community as a whole, and been doing so since around 2010. I enjoy helping others meet and/or achieve their tech goals. I also enjoy learning from the Community.

Additionally, I am passionate about...you guessed it...Veeam! I like learning about the many features & functions of Veeam. Though I’ve been using the product for quite some time, there’s still so much I haven’t even touched, moreso because the area of my work (customer side). So, I haven’t really touched much of the Cloud products/services like Veeam for AWS/Azure/GCS or VCC/VSPC, etc.; nor have I used the Veeam for Nutanix product. Someday maybe 🙂

For me, at VeeamON I’m looking forward to catching up with tech colleagues I’ve known for several years. I enjoy the networking & relationships. I’m also excited to have my first opportunity to co-present a Linux session with @haslund . I hope those who attend our session find it beneficial and enlightening. It should be a great learning experience for me. The VeeamON “Village” or “Lounge” is a great place to unwind from all the Sessions going on throughout the day. You have a chance to play games and, imo most imporantly - network with other attendees. You may even catch some of the amazing Product Management and Strategy Team members there. What else is there?...Hands-on-Lab learning and, as a fun take on lab learning, LabWarz. I did LabWarz for the 1st time last year and really enjoyed it. Try your take on potentially winning “$10 G’s”. I highly recommend partaking.

Lastly, the Veeam Celebration on Wed night is always spectacular, as well as a “final unwind” & network opportunity to send us attendees off right.

From a VeeamON veteran, if there’s anything I can do to help make your VeeamON experience better, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hey everyone!

VeeamON 2024 is extra special for me as it marks 10 years since I attended the inaugural VeeamON back in 2014. A truly special event with a huge focus on community and networking opportunities as well as tons of great content.

@coolsport00 already mentioned above that he & I have been lucky enough to get selected to present a session - hope to see you there :)

Finally, I’ve helped design the LabWarz games this year - I hope you give it a try and have a lot of fun exploring the product as you compete to win the big prize.

Hello Community.  My name is Chris Childerhose and I am a Senior Cloud Architect in the MSP space working for a large Canadian provider based in Toronto, Canada.  My expertise is a bit of everything as I have worked in many roles prior to my current one but now I help to architect our datacenters to implement all the BaaS/DRaaS architecture.  I am currently a Veeam Vanguard and Veeam Legend with passion for Veeam for over 10 years now.  I am also an author of 3 Veeam books that you can find on Amazon or Packt.

I have been to several VeeamON conferences with the first one being in New Orleans back in 2017.  That is where my love for Veeam took off and has been a passion ever since.  I have been to VeeamON in Vegas (2022), Miami (2023) and now Ft. Lauderdale (2024).  I always look forward to the technical sessions, networking with fellow Vanguards/Legends and talking to all the folks at Veeam.  Even signing books at times when people ask.  😂

This year I am hoping to learn about all the new things coming in the 12.1.2 release and hopefully this will help me plan my fourth book which will revolve around all the 12.1 enhancements plus anything else I see at VeeamON (like possibly Proxmox 😉 ).  Network with your peers and chat as this is an event for that and be sure to check out the LabWarz along with the TechZone with all the vendors to learn about new technologies, etc.  If anyone has questions feel free to reach out as I am always on the community ready to help.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at VeeamON 2024 this year! 😎

Hi everyone! I am a marketeer (not to be confused with a Mouseketeer 🐭) with cloud storage provider and two-time VeeamON Platinum Sponsor, Backblaze. This is my second VeeamON event, and am super excited to see everyone this year!

Mary, we're proud to have Backblaze as a sponsor! Are you bringing something special for attendees this year? Feel free to share with us! Remember, anyone can start a topic here. :)

Second VeeamON for you—nice! Why not share what you enjoyed last time? :) We have a discussion for exchanging experiences, and first-time attendees will really appreciate it. 😉

Hi there all. I've never been to VeeamON and this will be my first time attending. The area is not new for me. I've been many times in Fort Lauderdale's area :) I'm looking forward connecting with peers and attending the technical sessions

Hi there @maartenkoopman . Welcome to your 1st VeeamON! Best place to meet/greet fellow colleagues I think is in the “Veeam Village/Lounge” area. It’s a relaxing place to hang out. You can also meet the Community Hub Analysts there too!

Best.

Hi @maartenkoopman! Great to hear that you're familiar with Fort Lauderdale! We might just have to tap into your local expertise for recommendations on the best cafes, restaurants, and sights. 😉

Hi community! My name is Lukas Klostermann and I am a senior consultant at Kramer & Crew in Germany. The company’s goal is to establish Veeam as additional “mainstream” product besides Commvault and I recently joined the company with that mission.

This will also be my very first time visiting the VeeamON and my also second time in the US (I’ve been to Las Vegas in 2022 to attend the Dell Technologies World for my old company).

I am now focussed on Veeam as disaster recovery solution for more than 6 years so I am really looking forward to dive into technical talks and expand my personal network.

Unfortunately I will be traveling alone and will be in the hotel from Friday (afternoon) to Thursday (morning). If anyone has recommendations for bars, restaurants, cafes or else and is willing to let a young German join...please let me know. :-)

Hi @lukas.k -

Welcome to VeeamON! To meet people, posting here was good for starters. At VeeamON I recommend visiting the Veeam Lounge  & introduce yourself to other attendees. You're bound to find some folks to hang out with for the week.

Best!

Hello fellow VeeamOn attendees!

I'm excited to join you all from Christchurch, New Zealand, competing once again for the longest travel 🤣 This will be my second time at the conference, so I’m not unfamiliar with the journey. I'm eager to connect and exchange insights on data protection challenges and solutions, I work for a Service Provider, so I’ve seen a few things, but always curious how others are doing it! The buzz around alternative hypervisors is top of mind, and I can't wait to dive into those discussions. Looking forward to seeing everyone

Hi there! Looking forward for my first VeeamON. My name is Markus and i am based in the beautiful Bergstraße, Hessen (Germany).

I’m a Senior Consultant with focus on datacenter infrastuctures, mainly dooing Veeam VBR (and the first VRO projects), VMware vSphere and Horizon as well.

My first steps with Veeam started early in 2010, and i fell in love with this amazing product and community. Veeam Parties at VMworlds are the best 😍 Also i did my first VMCE on V9 in 2017 and did a refresh to the actual VMCE & VMCA early this year to Version 2024.

...normally i visit VMworld/VMware Explore, but i would say 80% of my day is Veeam related, so switched focus here as well. I am travelling with my colleague Sebastian, who is also a Consultant and gets deeper insights in Veeam every day.

Can’t wait for this Event and wish you all a good time!

@Dynamic - congrats on passing the exams.  I need to redo the VMCA one more time as I just missed it first crack.  Hopefully middle of June to make that attempt.

Yeah I have read my books a few times but I found that using the Exam Guide for VMCA there are links to the sections which many go to the Best Practice site.  So there are just some minor things I am going to brush up on and then pass it next time. 😎

@Dynamic thank you for the compliment about Veeam parties!😀 We have something special planned for VeeamON too 🕺💃 Stay tuned!

Hello all, first VeeamON for myself as well! I lead the backup infrastructure and centralized NOC for an MSP in the Detroit, Michigan. We switched all clients to Veeam and built out our cloud connect about 2 years ago. We are all loving the product as its helped with MRR and fast-tracking workload moves in projects. I’m looking forward to talking with other MSPs about how I can improve providing services with Veeam.
