Nice post there Rasmus, as always. I do this at home as well to accommodate an uplanned power outage should my UPS battery not sustain a power incident.
I think Veeam Live was effective primarily in re-iterating Veeam’s vision in the market. Three things put me there:Fresh off the Kasten acquisition, this is a good direction for us for K8s application capabilities right for the platform. This has a very bright future! Google Cloud support, reminds me a lot of when we supported Hyper-V, it was the right time for the next hypervisor - this is the right time for the next cloud. Rocking the Platform: The upcoming releases of Veeam Backup & Replication v11, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, Veeam Backup for AWS, Veeam Backup for AWS, Veeam Availability Orchestrator (goodness coming there!), the Agents and Veeam ONE. WOW
Could go so far, Rasmus, as to say it is a *troubleshooting* tool - in addition to a recovery tool… Scenario: Something is wrong, you don’t know what → See DNS changes to give nice info...

Howdy JMeixner - welcome and thanks for posting. I see this as intended behavior as the object we are restoring is the whole mailbox. Before we get to that point, I recommend you do the “Compare with Production” button for this very scenario: Then you can easily see what is deleted, new, changed etc. Here is my calendar: Here is my inbox, etc: In this way, this question is answered even before the restore :)
That being said, if you still think that should be something in the log/UI, you can enter that as a feature request in the Veeam Forums (we don’t ensure all of the FR’s are seen by Veeam Product Management in this new community site).
Part of me J is to spin this as how this can make the restore more efficient. Meaning, if we do the compare with - and only restore the changed/different etc. We’d avoid that long list of skipped. Granted with multiple folders this would become a challenge. Or even across things like calendar, mail, tasks, contacts, etc.
The efficient means you can (somewhat quickly) scan the whole of the items for a quick list of what is unchanged on the target (the mailbox). And if you select (I sorted by Item state) - It will just restore what needs restoring.

Hi there mhmdadl - Interesting idea. So, the reality is the Remediation Actions in Veeam ONE can do this now. This goes into the Art of the Possible, but it is really versatile what you can do when conditions are met. Maybe start with this video https://www.veeamanimal.com/veeamonewizard
I guess it also depends on the error, or condition that makes you want to do something. If you can script it, you can kick it off with Veeam ONE.

Hi there @mhmdadl. Good question. One perspective I’d say is that that the newest Veeam products, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and Veeam Backup for AWS are an appliance in the marketplace. So, like all things, we do what makes senses. As for Veeam B&R as an appliance - there are solution stacks from Cisco and Nutanix.Beyond that, stay tuned.
