Congrats @ShaokatNo need to worry about submitting anything. The certification will be placed on both your Veeam vmce profile and in credly site once Veeam determines you met all their cert requirements. Hope that helps.

@kkyyww theoretically, yes...you could. When you re-add the Repository to Veeam, you should have an option to scan it for backup files on it. They would show under Orphaned, if memory serves. And, you could then restore from those files. I haven’t tried this. Maybe someone else can chime in who may have. May I ask why you wanna disconnect your iSCSI LUN then reconnect it? To maybe have an ‘offline’ copy? Just curious.

Can I backup and roll back the backup repository?

Do you have enough space on your NAS to create a small 2nd LUN to connect to your Veeam server and test what you’re wanting to do? When you remove the Repository, Veeam removes services it installs when you added it initially. When you re-add it, it reinstalls those services and, if the box is checked as shown in my screenshot above, detects any backup files on the storage. There should be no conflicts.

Good point there @MicoolPaul . I was only thinking on the VBR side, not server the LUN is connected to.

GFS can be a bit tricky...I’m with you there. I spent a bit of time wrapping my brain around it before writing that article :) Yes, GFS files are fulls (though incrementals are not), so you do run into needing quite a bit of storage space if you store files for a while.

What is the best tool to test required open ports for Veeam distributed components requirements?

No 3rd party tool I can think of off-hand @Moustafa_Hindawi . But, if you’re just wanting to see what ports are being listened to on your VBR server, you can simply run netstat and direct the output to a txt file and review what’s open & being listened on:netstat -an > C:\path\to\folder\ports.txtIf you want FQDN names, run nestat -af > \path\to\ports.txtHope that gives you what you want.

Backup Copy Job + WAN Accelerator

Nice BCJ thread. And really good advice there @MicoolPaul . Just to confirm his suggestion @NemanjaJanicic , I have a BCJ with Gb WAN between the two sites & use Direct mode. There's not really much around the length of time the initial job run taking so long unless you follow Michael's advice on initial seeding. For me, I was ok with the time length for my initial run. Subsequent incremental runs do take significantly less time. If you can be patient through the 1st run you should be fine here on out. Cheers!

I don't think processing rate will be lower, but I can't definitively confirm because I don't use WAN Accelerators. Depending on your total BCJ job size, your job shouldn't take 6-7 days to run. Just use Michael's formula above, but instead of the 7TB for the 1 VM in the job, use the total job size. This will give you the time it'll take to run the whole job...approximately. Again, since subsequent runs are incremental, it won't take anywhere near as long.

Concur with Michael. These Gateway Servers he suggests adding will act as Proxies to perform the heavy load & lifting of the BCJ job processing.. I suspect once implemented processing rate will increase. The Helpcenter on BCJ discusses Gateways.
