Veeam 365 Restoring Teams Files Error

Restoring a Microsoft teams file gives an error “object reference not set to instance of an object”. Has anybody come across this before. The file does get restored but Veeam console shows this error. Already have a case open with support but haven’t had much help. Running version 8.0.5.20 of Veeam Backup for 365.

Instant VM Recovery always running with status failed

I have an 'Instant VM recovery' always running, status is 'Failed' on the Status column, but status is 'In progress' when double click on the job, and the last line of the log shos 'Waiting for user to start migration' I already did the migration from my vCenter and that vm works fine now. I tried to stop that job using powershell commands but nothing work! I also noted that it no end time on that job! Can you help me please? Thanks a lot

Veeam 365 Repository Management Has Forced My Hand

When I quickly setup Veeam 365 Backup, I had to use on premise disk that I had available. I have since purchased basic storage and am trying to move my backup repository from the temporary storage to the new storage. I’m using the recommended Move-VBOEntityData tool and it is horrible. I have migrations in excess of 60 hours to move a 50 GB mailbox backup. And it isn’t my hardware. Performance tests show that read/write performance is exponentially faster. The tool itself in combination with the JetDB architecture is the problem. And while using this tool, I can’t do backups. Which put in me in an untenable situation of no backups for 2-3 weeks while I try to complete this migration. Researching this in the R&D Forums show others having the same performance issue. Because of that, I am done. I am already competitive bidding 365 backup solutions, and I will be bailing on the Veeam 365 backup platform as soon as I can. While on an all day troubleshooting call...

...I decided to play around with some designs for stickers. I know VUG Canada will provide their own official stickers for VUG Canada, but I thought “Why not have some fun and see what else I can come up with?” I was never really planning on releasing these into the wild, but I liked these so much I didn’t want them to go to waste. Here are some awesome, unofficial, in no way related to Veeam, VUG sticker designs for VUG Canada. Don’t use them, don’t even think about them, you’re not supposed to know they exist. Now forget what you just saw… we were never here.

VUG Canada - May 2nd and In-Person!

Well, the next VUG Canada planning is underway for May 2nd and this one is going to be an in-person event in downtown Toronto in the Distillery District. We are still working out the plans and event location, including sponsors but this will be great to meet with everyone to discuss all things Veeam. Onsite 365 Backup Repository is filling up.

I am using direct attached on premise storage for my backup repository. That repository is getting close to being full, and I am having trouble understanding what next steps are. I have 30 day snapshot retention enabled. My concerns are around can I add a new repository that will continue to add new snapshots without having to start all over again and backup the entire 365 environment to that new repository? Ideally if I create a new repository, after 30 days the old (current) repository should be expired and can be removed. But I have a feeling it doesn’t work that way.

Question About Veeam and Hyper-V

Hi team: I have a question about Veeam and Hyper-V. I just installed VBR on a virtual machine running Windows Server 2002 and have 2 W2019 servers running Hyper-V. Can I add both to the VBR infrastructure? Or can I install agents for virtual machines within Hyper-V? Regards,

Backup Performance

Hi All, I was attending VUG Canada session today and asked question about forcing the backup traffic. It is good to discuss this question here as discussed in the session When we have VMware proxy configured in the network mode, or any other proxy configured on the network mode,the traffic will be over ESXi Mgmt network. We will have issues in performance and data transfer if this mgmt uplink is less than 10gbps, in most cases it's configured as 1gbps which is not recommended for backup. The question is how can we force the backup traffic to go through good unlink like 10gbps and how can we separate the backup traffic from the production traffic in the best practice way. Second question if we have agent backup, sure the traffic will be over the network (I think also the mgmt,please correct me if I am wrong). How can we force the VMware Agent backup to ho over faster link like 10gbps or higher as well. Thank you and waiting for your informative replies

About this group

A user group that allows users to learn about everything related to Veeam® and a forum for accessible and unrestricted discussions when it comes Veeam.

 

The Canada User Group first formed in early 2016 as a collaboration formed between three Veeam users who care deeply about Veeam and recognizing our vocal/public support for our vast array of products. It hasn’t been as active lately, but we are looking to get things going again. So we welcome you to please join us.

 

Our hope is to hold around four events every year, spreading them evenly across Canada with East GTA, Toronto and West GTA as our primary areas we want to focus on. We are officially recognized by Veeam and have several personal contacts in the organization that goes back years — this is especially useful for when we request the official presence of a Veeam expert. They are always supportive of our efforts. But more importantly they allow us to run the group completely independently too. There are never any secret agendas or directions on how to present content, as we’re allowed full autonomy.

Information Technology professional with 26+ years of experience in IT.  He is a Veeam Vanguard/Veeam Legend and is a Veeam Certified Architect and Veeam Certified Engineer.  He also has the following certifications: vExpert, VCAP-DCA, VCP-DCV, and MCITP.  He currently works for ThinkOn as the Lead Infrastructure Architect, designing the infrastructure for all client services.  Chris is also an avid blogger on everything virtual, focusing on Veeam and VMware.  Chris is also the author of the Mastering Veeam series’ first and second editions.
