Wasabi performance vs VCC

Good afternoon, just thought I’d ask the question alongside speaking with our FW MSP and Veeam themselves…

I’m trailing Wasabi right now. So far, a backup copy job running for a couple of my smaller VMs is not even completing, and the speed is showing a 6MB/s doing its initial seed.

I have a 1Gbps leased line and the VCC jobs for the same VM’s run at around 110MB/s. I very much doubt this is the difference between great value cloud object storage and a VCC partners inhouse infrastructure, but I suppose I need to ask now before I waste more time on this…

Any insights? There is nothing on the Veeam server throttling this, the FW MSP has been asked and has said all wasabi endpoints are not subject to inspection so I am starting to wonder.

I know Wasabi does throttle but to what degree I am unsure.  Maybe ​@drews can comment on this one.

I think throttling to 6MB/s is impossible to work with, but it’d be great to confirm - anybody using Wasabi got any insight? I’d love to know if there’s a magic setting somewhere because it’s unusable at this point.

I use Wasabi and don't have this issue but not sure why.  I would contact them directly.

I think I think it also depends on the data centre you are using for Wasabi bucket.
For now, on the datacenter Wasabi in Italy relies on, if I don't activate throttling it goes to 100 MB/s.

Yes the DC and locale could definitely play a role on throttling and job response in Veeam.  Still something I would reach out to Support for Wasabi about to get a firm answer.

I assume the VCC copy jobs complete fine and both jobs are ran at different times?

What's the underlying storage?

Like the others we haven’t encountered this issue and get really good speeds.
