I couldn’t get 13 to install.

I uninstalled ScreenConnect and Trend Micro Worry Free Business, which we put on every computer.

That didn’t work.

Disabled SmartScreen.

That didn’t work.

The machine is now running vanilla 2019 Datacenter with only Chrome installed, won’t install, and I’m tired of fighting it.

I’m putting 12 on until somebody comes up with a work around.

I’m staying with 12 until they allow a different port - on Community Editing for a SOHO installation with Windows Server and Server Essentials which itself needs 443 for operation. Don’t need and can’t afford a separate server and, from what others have said, looks like even setting this up on a VM would not work.

Really really bad architectural/design decision that makes 13 unusable for a significant number of users, meaning that they will stay on 12 with all the support challenges this will have for Veeam. Such a bad decision that I suspect many people affected will also have started looking again at alternatives.

Response from support

Port 443 is required and hardcoded for the Veeam Web service/API Gateway in Veeam Backup & Replication v13.0.1.180 and newer. Unfortunately, there is no supported method to change the port for the Veeam Web service/API Gateway, nor is there a supported way to bypass the compatibility check.

Not acceptable. Fix that.
