I am just trying to figure following scenario but unable to put into action.

Scenario:-

I want to copy a SMB Share/SAN Intergration Full Backup job from last day of previous month i.e 29th of 30th etc. 

I cannot find an option to handpick a specific restore point from last day of previous month. I want to retain this job with two-year retention on tapes. VBR just offers to copy Full Backups via Copy to Tape but does allow to handpick specific full backups from a list of previous backup jobs/restore points etc.

 

Is this functionality only available via PowerShell?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No you cannot pick a specific date as backups are a chain so having the one point would be useless.

You need to set up GFS to tape to accomplish what you need.

Yep...as Chris shared..this functionality is not possible. If you find cmdlets with parameters to accomplish your goal with PoSH...that would indeed be the only option. GFS as Chris shared would be about the closest thing you can do in the UI/Console, but you’d have more restore points than you want.

Maybe….you could use the UI, or again in PoSH, to run a VeeamZIP job on against the VM (so, not really copying Veeam backup files) on the day you’re wanting and run it as a scheduled task. That’s pretty much all I know of.

At the very least..you could reach out to Veeam Support to see if they know of any other way than our suggestions.

Use a File to Tape job and add the backup files you want explicitly as the source for the job.

With Backup to Tape (including GFS) it’s not possible to specify this for a one-off backup, so File to Tape is the answer (Veeam Backup files do not require license for File to Tape)
