Hello,

When we have rental license how we can calculate how many VM can be protected by the available license?

Hi @hs08 are you talking VCSP rental or VUL rental?

hi @MicoolPaul

How we can know that?

Here my license in the VBR

1* VM protected by Enterprise Plus = 11 Points

You can see that in your screenshot or in our helpcenter.

Total Rental Points of your license / 11 = Amount of VM

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vcsp/refguide/virtual_machines.html

Exceeding a license is possible by 20% points, but only for a grace period of 60 days.

hi @Mildur

So i have 275 point this mean the VBR only can protect 275/11 = 25 VMs and can exceeding up to 30VMs?

yes. A license with 275 Points allows you to protect 25 VMs.

You can exceed by 20% (or 20VMs) but the Service Provider still has to report and pay the overconsumption.

I believe it‘s 20VM, whatever number is bigger (20% vs 20 VM).

Something is strange with your screenshots. Why is one showing 275 point and the other 429? Different Backup Server?

Best,

Fabian

Please note, you should not calculate the real consumption based on exceeding a license. Ask your Service Provider to create the license with the correct amount of points for your workload and expected growth.

Fabian

Hi @Mildur

“You can exceed by 20% (or 20VMs)”, why you say 20% is 20VM? isn't 20% taken from 275 point and this only get additional 55 point and this also mean will get additional 5 VMs?

“Why is one showing 275 point and the other 429? Different Backup Server?”

No i just using single VBR license. Can i say I have 39 VM protected and this mean the point is 429?

My backup job showing i reach the limit of license, so i need to unselect some of my protected VM and want to know actually how much VMs can be protected by my license.

Please check the user guide link I have provided.

20% or 20 workloads. Quote from the user guide:

  • 20 workloads or 20% more than your license limit.

For other license types with Exceeding licenses, we use the option which is bigger. For a 275 point license it would be 20 workloads, but I need to check with our tech writer team first. I believe the user guide can be updated for better understanding.

Thats strange. The total point number in the license screen and points screen should match.

I recommend to contact your service Provider. To request a new Rental license with more points and to investigate why the numbers are not matching.

hi @Mildur

maybe this is because i have get additional 20VMs since we install the license maybe 2 months ago and today i got error due the grace period is over?

Yes, that could be it.

Fabian
