How to obtain support for NFR license?

I’ve been a long-time user and promoter of Veeam B&R. I have provided many sales leads which have resulted in new customers and increased revenue for several different companies that I consult with. In order for me to stay informed and current, I have an extensive home lab. I’ve used an NFR license with Veeam, for years.

Folks like me used to be able to report bugs and obtain support by posting on forums.veeam.com. Things have changed over there and that forum can no longer be used for support. I have tried opening support cases with Veeam Support but they always get closed because resources are not available for trial and NFR license holders.

So what are folks like me supposed to do when we encounter issues that appear to be bugs? The lack of any support for trial and NFR users is genuinely making me consider installing and learning a different backup solution and I love Veeam.

I’ve been a long-time Veeam user myself...15yrs or so...but always used the Forums as a ‘guide’ rather than Support. Since this site was created 3-4yrs ago, quite a few folks ask questions here. We don’t require (nor ask for) case numbers. We’re not affiliated with Veeam, professionally speaking (some are though...like Wesley above). All we do here is provide suggestions based off our experiences with various Veeam products.

As Wesley shared above, and no doubt you’re aware of, you’ve always been able to open Support cases with Veeam for free/NFR versions of their products, but is a hit-or-miss whether you get assisted or not. With the increase in their product line and business, I’m sure it’s way more difficult for them to get to such cases these days.

All that said, if you post a question here, hopefully we can help you out. But just remember, we’re not official Veeam Support, and any suggestions given are at your own risk. I always advise to TEST where possible any changes or suggestions offered.

Hope that helps.

Best.

Here’s an example of the response mod’s will post if you report an issue on forums.veeam.com:

As described in our Support Policy: https://www.veeam.com/legal/support-policy.html
Evaluation licenses are supported during the eval period. For NFR it's like Free License, based in best-effort.
