Happy Friday!

Today I’d like to talk about technology. Whether software or hardware, it’s amazing the ways that it revolutionises our lives. I recently came across some technology I’d love to share, and get your own tech & stories.

The technology I’m going to share is called Bionic Reading. It is a technology focused on complimenting the brain’s reading process, by guiding the eyes through text with artificial fixation points, such as bold text or different font sizing. It has been especially well received by people diagnosed with ADHD due to its ability to retain attention of the reader for longer. I’ve found this handy when used with technical documentation or other text heavy works, to avoid eye fatigue.

Bionic Reading is available as an API, a traditional document converter tool is available, a Chrome extension to process websites for Bionic Reading, and then API is integrated into multiple RSS Reader apps such as Lire, Reeder 5 and Fiery Feeds. I’ve purchased Reeder 5 and found it easy to use, I imported my Feedly account and had all of my existing feeds presented immediately, no need to manually reimport them all, and have since found Bionic Reading to be a handy way to go through my feeds faster.

Check it out for yourself as https://bionic-reading.com

Seen anything interesting from a software or hardware perspective recently you want to share? Comment below!

Never knew @MicoolPaul is also a great reviewer 😁. I will take a look at the Bionic Reading and I hope I don’t get addicted!!!

  • There is a free trail that can be explored despite limited. Thank you very much for sharing!!!

Interesting the bionic reading. I will have a closer look at this. A good friend of mine works with mental disabled people (do you say so in English?). Perhaps this is an interesting technology for him to support his clients with reading and understanding texts.

Edit:
I did not want to say that people with ADHD are mentally disabled! Just the clients of my friend are.

I am interested in quantum computing. Still working to get a live look at the IBM Quantum Computer in Ehningen, Germany.

This technology can overcome nearly every cryptographic algorithm. And much more...

Thanks for this.  As a neurodivergent (ADHD), my eyes can definitely skip around unless I really focus hard sometimes.  This may be really helpful…..

Nice extension @MicoolPaul !!! I’ll give a try 😎

Not innovative but surely interesting, for those who need daily a hierarchical note program I found yesterday Joplyn. It’s free, it’s opensourse and has sync capability with it’s own cloud, but even with dropbox or onedrive.

I used to use CherryTree, but this is a huge step forward in quality of use. And multidevice too!

Interesting….I had never heard of Joplin.  I used to be an Evernote user back in the day and FINALLY made the switch to OneNote and it’s been alright, but not perfect…...

This seems like a very interesting technology to check out. Always was slow at reading but got better over time maybe this will help more. 😜

Bionic Reading :) this reminds me of my youth.. well early youth. We had Steve Austin the Bionic Man, i.e. the 6 Million Dollar Man..(yeah I know 6 million dollars is nothing nowadays, inflation). For those of you too young to know this.. oh what you missed!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CPJ-AbCsT8

Great recommendation @MicoolPaul I came across it the other day and gave it a try. I definitely find it easier to read lot of text.

Hardware wise, this is pretty cool: https://remarkable.com/store/remarkable-2

It is great to write on and converts hand written notes into text.

I feel like I need to test this as my handwriting is on par with a doctor’s!

(Fun fact: Did you know that according to https://health.economictimes.indiatimes.com/health-files/doctor-s-illegible-handwriting-creating-confusion-causing-death/, an estimated 7,000 American’s die per year due to medical mistreatment due to misinterpreted bad handwriting!)
