Hi all,

I have a feature request: can it be made possible to offload backups of Azure SQL databases created with Veeam for Microsoft Azure from VBR to Wasabi or other object storage using a copy job?

At the moment this is possible for Azure VM's of which backups are made on blob storage. For Azure SQL it is only possible to make backups on blob storage so there is actually no offsite backup possible…

You need to submit feature requests in the Forums not the community so they will be seen - https://forums.veeam.com

Your best bet is to post your request on the Forums. Veeam PMs will see your request and can give you an idea if or when it can be addressed.

Best.

I know it’s not exactly what you are looking for, but as a way to give yourself a secondary offsite or local copy, you could set up the blob storage as an unstructured data source and create a backup of that object storage.

Beyond this, submitting a feature request on the forums as others have suggested is the way to go.

Thanks for thinking along. This is exactly what I had already thought of, but the strange thing is that when I added the Blob container as Unstructured Data and ran the job to Wasabi, the job status show "Backed up 0 objects and 0 prefixes (0 B)". As Veeam does not recognize any data in the container. When I browse the blob container from VBR under "Files \ Unstructured Data \ Object Storage" I can see the Veeam Backup data just fine.
