Hi Community,

Has anyone successfully reverted Veeam ONE from version 13 to version 12? Are there recommended steps or considerations to avoid issues during the downgrade? Any official guidance or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Madi.Cristil @safiya ..when you get a chance, can you place this post in the ‘Discussions Board’ please, for higher visibility?

Thank you.

@waqasali -

I’m pretty sure there is no ‘downgrade path’. I believe the only thing you can do is uninstall current and reinstall previous version.

This is a good idea. I will wait for other participants' suggestions.

A downgrade of Veeam ONE is not possible and if you go for the reinstall option, you would have to start with a new database and configuration.

Pretty confident that a downgrade isn’t possible since the database structures and contents will have changed during the upgrade so you’ll have to revert your snapshot or re-install ONE v12.

There is no supported way to downgrade from a higher version to a previous version without doing a full uninstall of the current version and reinstalling with the desired version. Restoring the configuration will require a configuration backup from that particular version.

Neither configuration backups nor backups made with a newer version of Veeam can be used with previous versions (Veeam is backwards compatible with backups, meaning v13 can work with v12 backups, but v12 cannot work with v13 backups)

What is the reason for wanting to downgrade? If there are technical issues on v13, it’s best to open a Veeam Support case and let Support review the behavior.

Hello

So has anyone successfully done a downgrade.

My environment run on an old OS which is compatible with a lot of other software and application.

Installing V13 needed to upgrade and we are not willing to for now. I need to downgrade until there are no tighten guidelines with infrastructure or something flexible is available.

Hi, welcome to the community forums.

There is no official downgrade process, please see my post above on what would need to be done / considerations.

For the old OS blocking your v13 adoption, it’s about the backup server itself or some workload you need to protect? If it’s about protecting an older workload, I would advise consider making a separate topic about this workload and ask for alternative approaches to protecting it.

The “downgrade” process has some heavy caveats and I would avoid it especially if you’ve already been running v13 for a bit and have some backups + new infrastructure items added
