Hi,

You can’t use Backup Copy, that only copies the most recent point in time, not the entire history.

At present Veeam doesn’t support migration between object storage repositories for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

You could use backup copy but my suggestion would be to use rClone to copy/sync the data from Wasabi to the on-prem S3.  We have used this tool to move PB of data from AWS to Pure on-site for hundreds of customers.

VB365 data is very easy to do this as well over something like VBR data.  @HangTen416 - Hin works with me and has done this a ton recently and we just completed our migration project.  I am sure he can add some context around this.

had another comment from a different person that say we could rclone out of wasabi to on-premise for each object and have Veeam ‘basically” rescan the objects on-premise to rebuild the “catalog” BTW -- I am not a Veeam user at all just looking for a solution for my customer

Yes you can do this as I have noted as we have done it over the past 4-6 months moving data.

Hi @Chris.Childerhose please be mindful when stating this that this is not a process that is approved by Veeam and could leave the customer in an unsupported state, especially if a backup was running during the point of a data migration. In a worst case scenario this could result in unrecoverable data. It would be the full responsibility of the customer to ensure data integrity remains after migration.

Yes absolutely as I never said it was “supported” but something we have done.  But again my suggestion is an “unsupported” solution but it does work.

Sorry for any miscommunication here.

I understand you never stated it was supported 🙂 I just wanted to ensure we’re upfront here in stating it isn’t, especially as OP stated they’re not a Veeam user. Thank you, and I’m glad it worked for you!

Absolutely agree and appreciate you chiming in.  I will ensure to put a highlighted tag for things like this so it is known.
