Hello, I have got few vms removed from primary backup job - since these VMs are decommissioned, the copy jobs are configured with the primary job name - immediate copy , however these vms are not removed from the copy jobs even after the retention period, i can see these under backups ( disk copy ) option. Kindly advise

Hi Bennet,

You have to set the option “remove deleted items” to make this happen, simply follow this guide:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/retention_deleted_vms.html?ver=13

This applies both to Backup and Backup Copy jobs.

Hello @lukas.k the remove deleted items option is selected - 60 days for backup job and 90 days for copy jobs.

So did the retention of 60 / 90 days already pass? And what is the primary job retention?

Are the backups immutable as well as this will play a role in deleting?

Hi All,

I have gone through the copy jobs in particular and find there are two restore points for same server.

Can find that the old restore points which are not dependent on the latest one is not deleted from the veeam console disk ( copy ) / object ( copy )

VM Name   Creation Time     Restore Points

Server_A    1/13/2023            28 → Oldest Restore points

Server_A    6/9/2026              28 → Latest Restore points

So, can you delete them then from the console?  Not sure what you are asking here?

You can also use CTRL + Right-Click to remove them from the Configuration database too.

2023.. that is quite old. Perhaps something due to an upgrade causing it?

You could open a ticket, check logs, or try and manually remove if no longer required.

Without seeing the logs it’s difficult to diagnose. A ticket with Veeam will be your best route.

Agree with Scott here...Support is probably your best option at this point.
