Does Veeam plan to provide an install platform for Linux-based OS, referring to the installation of the Veeam Backup and Replication Application?

This question/ask tends to get brought up about yearly for Veeam. The ‘decision-makers’ response is “no foreseeable future plans” for this. As Michael suggests, a request in the forums would be your best bet.

Nothing has been announced, best asking on the Veeam R&D forums for this as a feature request 🙂

So many things on VBR depends of Windows and registry key.

I believe that it would be a big effort to “transport” the backup server feature for a Linux environment.

The question is: Why? So, many new features come every year and this one certainly would drain a lot of this energy of all Veeam staff.

Market share?? Maybe.

How many companies use pure Linux OS (including hosts, servers, and clients)? Veeam needs to hire Linux developers to re-code it.

As everybody knows, Linux is a good system, but it is what it is. Maybe one day, the dream will come true. 😁

Great argument @wolff.mateus Startups and smaller businesses tend to use open-source OS for their operating servers because so many distributions are free … @CarySun, yeah! The amrket share ofcourse as this will extend Veeam’s customer base.

But then, the development effort and the various variants of Linux distribution will certainly make this take forever … Like you said, maybe one day 😁
