What Does the Veeam Ready - Appliance Hardened Validation Mean? 

The Veeam Ready Program helps customers and partners quickly identify solutions that have been tested for compatibility, performance, and security with Veeam’s Data Platform. With multiple validation categories—including Appliance, Repository, Object, Security, Kubernetes, and Tape—this program provides assurance that hardware and software solutions meet Veeam’s high standards. 

The Veeam Ready - Appliance Hardened validation confirms that a hardware platform has undergone testing to meet Veeam’s security, functionality, and performance benchmarks. For HPE solutions, this means testing was done directly with a Veeam Solutions Architect, providing additional confidence. For partners, having a validated appliance means they can present it to customers as a trusted, verified solution for their backup and data management needs. 

 

HPE Storage Servers: Scalable, Flexible, and Validated 

For this Veeam Ready - Appliance Hardened validation, we’re focusing on three key HPE storage servers: 

  • HPE DL380 
  • HPE Alletra 4120 
  • HPE Alletra 4140 

What makes these servers stand out? Collaborative testing. Unlike generic hardware, these storage servers have been rigorously performance-tested with HPE and Veeam engineers working together. Great writeup and very informative. I was wondering, what kind of hardening is done for the ILO/Console access?

If you click on one of the Veeam Ready article links above, each one contains a link to an HPE page explaining how to harden the iLO.  For instance, for the Alletra 4120 - https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00146089enw  

 

The section for the iLO would guide users to do some simple hardening steps like disabling USB boot and other boot options and limiting remote access to the iLO.
