wurde an der Maschine ein Sysprep durchgeführt? Eventuell bezieht sich Veeam auf Informationen aus der Registry.

Es wurde kein Sysprep durchgeführt, weil wir bedenken hatten, dass etliche Programme nicht mehr funktionieren würden bzw. neu installiert werden müssten.

Diesen Zeitaufwand wollten wir uns durch das clonen sparen.

Dennoch stellt sich die Frage, warum man eine IP Adresse im Veeam angeben muss, wenn diese nicht verwendet wird.

Ist der DNS Eintrag für dieses System aktuell?

If you are talking about the Veeam Agent for windows, I think you need to uninstall the agent and reinstall it again from Veeam management server, or install it locally and connect to vbr.

DNS ist laut nslookup aktuell.

Wir haben jetzt noch mal den Veeam auf Client deinstalliert und das Backup angestoßen.

Jetzt erhalten wir diese Fehlermeldung:

“Unable to install backup agend: cannot connect to … Error: Known agent ...have the same bios upid … but different connection point…”

Tatsächlich war im inventory noch ein anderer Rechner vorhanden mit genau dieser IP.

Wir sind gerade dabei noch mal zu testen, ob nicht eine andere Fehlermeldung jetzt kommt.

DNS is up to date by nslookup.

We deinstalled Veeam on the client and are running a new backup.

Now we get:

“Unable to install backup agend: cannot connect to … Error: Known agent ...have the same bios upid … but different connection point…”

And indeed there was another client in the inventory with this ip.

We are testing again to see if we don’t get other error messages.

Sysprep wird immer empfohlen, normalerweise muss man nichts neu installieren, maximal Programme neu konfigurieren.

Jetzt meldet Veeam eine erfolgreiche Durchführung des Backup.

Das Backup ist aber innerhalb von Minuten für 400GB fertig und es wird kein Ordner erstellt.

Keine Fehlermeldung oder etwas auswertbares.

Was just about to try suggesting this as I have had to do this previously to address IP issues.

Even after reading the instructions for resetting the Veeam Agent DB I am not completely sure what will happen.

Do I make this registry entry on the server or the clients? I suppose server.

Do my backup jobs still exist after reset? We have 15 clients I don’t want to do the work again.

Will the backups run on normal schedule after this reset? Or do I have to do something?

How do I create a restore point or backup everything? When I search for restore point I don’t get any information how to create one. Everything about “how to backup veeam” is also far from helpful.

Resetting the configuration database will reset all Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows settings, removing existing job settings and related job history. Restore points created before the reset will not be removed and will remain recoverable; however, as their job will have been removed, they will not be tracked for retention.

Yes, you have to create the registry key, do that for 1 machine first.

Create the registry key where? Client or Server?

On the client system where the Agent is installed.

Did nothing.

We did the registry entry on the client where Veeam Agent is installed.

It already existed and changed the value to 1.

After restarting the mentioned service it switched back to value 0.

So it seemed as if it did something.

But after executing an active full backup it reacted as always.

Do I have to restart the computer first before the registry change has an greater effect?

Das ist ein merkwürdiges Verhalten. Auf keinem anderen Rechner war das so.

Warum soll ich das Backup am Client starten? Es soll doch servergesteuert sein.

Oder ist das nur zum manuellen Anstoßen, damit man nicht bis zum Zeitpunkt des regulären Backups warten muss?

Leider klappt das nicht. Ein neuer Fehler:

Du kannst es am Client starten, damit du sofort siehst ob die Job Policy funktioniert.

Oder stundenlang warten bis der Scheduler den Job anwirft :)

Warum soll ich das Backup am Client starten? Es soll doch servergesteuert sein.

Backup Policies wie in deinem Fall kommen bei „Managed by Agent“ Backup Jobs vor. Somit wird das Backup nicht zentral „ vom server gesteuert“, sondern vom Agenten selber. Der Backup Server verteilt nur die Policy damit der Agent weiss was er zu tun hat.

Auf deinem Screenshot siehst du die Verteilung der Policy. Nun muss der Agent damit arbeiten und das Backup gemäss Policy selbstständig starten.

In deinem Log steht, dass du privat Fixes installiert hast. Somit hast du eine Lizenz mit Maintenance. Ich empfehle dir einen Case bei unserem Kundensupport zu eröffnen.

Welche Software gebe ich überhaupt an?

Meine Lizenz sagt “Veeam Backup Essentials” aber am Server wird “Veeam Backup & Replication” eingesetzt. Den Support case habe ich versucht mit “Veeam Backup & Replication” zu eröffnen.

Veeam Backup & Replication oder Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows ist korrekt für Veeam Backup  Essentials. Ich würde wahrscheinlich den Agent auswählen da du Probleme mit dem verwalteten Agent hast.

Der License admin oder ein registrierter Case admin muss aber den Case eröffnen. Sieht so aus, als ob dein Account beides nicht ist.
