VRO suggestions

First off, thank you for making this forum to discuss VRO-specific topics.  Being a new customer to the product, we have experienced a number of confusing and downright frustrating items.  Having that recent insight, I’d like to suggest the following off the top of my head:

1> Provide a clear walk-thru beginning to end of some simple scenarios such as:
  a. A video demonstrating how the product is intended to work.
  b. Beginning to end setup providing a RPO/RTO reports of in-place testing of replicated VM’s.
  c. How to fail over one or more VM’s.

2> Document how all the pieces fit together.  When going through the installation, it was too easy to get lost between what gets setup and where in VRO, Veeam One, B&R, VMware, etc.  There is a lot of interdependency and it isn’t concisely documented anywhere I could find.  But if you miss one piece, dependent processes don’t work and it’s difficult to know where you went wrong.  For example, trying to test a DR plan, but the compute resources don’t populate and it’s not clear what needs fixed in order to proceed.

3> The overall design could be greatly simplified, I believe.  VeeamOne integration seemed to make it even more confusing than before.  Something like a wizard to help guide you through steps is needed.

We’re still trying to get off the ground with it, and even support people have struggled at times.  We’re looking forward to getting our reports needed for ISO & SOC compliance, but it has been a much harder journey than we anticipated.  One of these days….

Best regards,
Ed Ellks, TranzAct Technologies

Ed, the first place you should visit is the Hands-on Labs for VRO.  https://go.veeam.com/hands-on-lab-experience   The guide will walk you through connecting to VCenter and VBR in that sandbox environment.  There are a lot of steps, agreed, but once it is connected you are able to orchestrate any actions you would normally do through VBR and Vcenter to facilitate a recovery.

Reach out to me directly if you would like to discuss.

I agree with Stephen on this one as the HOLs are great for getting started with VRO and walk you through many of things you mentioned.

Yes! We will have updated videos soon, I am in the process of building those. HOLs are fantastic to get familiarized with Veeam Products. We also have Veeam University for VRO under Product Onboarding

as well as a walk thru course created by our EMEA/AMER Technical Specialists for VMCE https://rise.articulate.com/share/nA5BBDTx-SUn41-s17e_yG1irX9PdTPG#/

Also, please reach out to your Veeam SE as they can help with some of the hurdles you are experiencing specifically in your environment.
