Hi guys. Sorry to say..this is the last VMCE Practice I have. Will probably not pick this back up again until some time after the v13 release..and imo...makes sense since it’s so close to release. So let’s get to this week’s Community VMCE practice question. As with the previous several, @Michael Funke provided this one too. Thanks again Michael!

For those new to the VMCE page, please hide your comment (guess). To do so → before typing your response, click the ellipsis (3 dots) icon on the far right of the format toolbar at the top in your comment box and select the Spoiler option. This will place a ‘hide comment’ text box in your comment box area. Click inside this hide comment text box and start typing your answer (guess). Be careful to not click outside of the box or your comment will show after saving. We want your comment to not show after clicking the Send button so others can take full advantage of these practice questions. Also, please no need to do a ‘quote’ comment of this question; I would like to keep these practice questions neat. Let me know if you have issues. Good luck on the question!

You’ve just performed a bare metal restore of a physical Windows server. When the backup for the server runs on the next cycle/schedule, you’d like for it to just start a new chain in case there was any corruption within any of the old backup files. To achieve this goal, you would like to delete all the backups from before the restore. How can you meet your requirement?

  1. The old backup chain is deleted automatically after a successful restore, there is no need for manual intervention
  2. This can be done in the Agent for Windows Control Panel: System Backup > Remove Backup Files
  3. The task cannot be completed and you will just have to wait until Backup Retention is met
  4. Use File Explorer to browse the Backup Job’s target Repository and delete the whole backup chain. At next Job run, a new Full will be taken

@coolsport00
thanks for all your work in this study group, I've been watching from the sidelines since the group was started, finally have my exam first thing in the morning tomorrow, need to do it before v13 as you said :D. I use Veeam every day but there’s some parts of it I just never touch, any final tips you can offer for some last minute study tonight? Thanks!

also:

  1. Use File Explorer to browse the Backup Job’s target Repository and delete the whole backup chain. At next Job run, a new Full will be taken

Hi @pr_osit -

Thank you for your kind words. I hope everything here on the page helps you tomorrow. Good luck!

Yep...there are some tips/ideas in a post I created a couple yrs ago, where a handful of us Community members shared our exam experiences and provide suggestions. You should be able to review the comment I posted in the below link:

Hi everyone. I’m on vacay the next several days so wanted to get you the answer before I’m gone. See below for explanation to this week’s question…

Quick explanation today 😊

a. ..isn’t correct because this is not a behavior in VAW; b. ...isn’t correct because there is no such option in the VAW Control Panel; only System Backup > Remove Job; c. ...is not fully correct to meet the requirements of the question. Technically, yes...retention will remove restore points, but there is a way to do what is required in the question, which leaves d. Use File Explorer to browse the Backup Job’s target Repository and delete the whole backup chain. At next Job run, a new Full will be taken as the correct answer. For further info, see below URL:
