Hey there Community -
For those not aware, Veeam officially released it’s new VMCE+ certification yesterday, 1 June. And because of the release, we have also changed the Study Hall Page name to reflect the new certification → VMCE+ Study Hall Page.
What changes are there to the VMCE+ certificaiton? Instead of having to know just Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) and a “little” bit of VeeamONE (VONE), you now need to know VBR just like before, as well as significant VONE and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) knowledge.
To attain the VMCE+ certification, you must have taken all 3 new Veeam Courses, which cover the below topics:
-
Veeam Backup & Replication: Configure, Manage, and Recover (VBR)
-
Veeam Data Platform: Monitor, Manage, Analyze (Veeam ONE)
-
Veeam Data Platform: Scale, Automate, Secure (Veeam Recovery Orchestrator)
A bit of good news though → if you hold a current VMCE certification (i.e. on version 12), you do not need to take the VBR Course. The other 2 above listed Courses will need to be taken. After you take the Courses, you can then go to the Veeam Certification website and click the button/link to register for the VMCE+ v13 exam at PearsonVUE. If you pass the exam, you are then VMCE+ certified.
Aside from the above listed requirements, what is the VMCE+ exactly? I think Veeam’s website says it best. And why not..they are the ones who created it 😂

And from the VMCE+ v13 Exam Specification (“Blueprint”):
“The VMCE+ v13 examination validates that candidates have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to design, implement, configure, and operate Veeam Data Platform solutions in real-world environments. It assesses their ability to apply core concepts, combine solutions across Veeam products, and perform key tasks such as backup and recovery, infrastructure monitoring, and disaster recovery. Successful candidates demonstrate competence in configuring, managing, and supporting Veeam Data Platform environments according to Veeam-defined performance criteria.”
I also want to make the Community aware of several changes to this new exam. Because of the depth of knowledge required for this new exam, the amount of questions has significantly increased from 60 > 100. With the increase in questions, as you may have guessed, you’ll also have more time to take it: 150mins (up from 75mins in the v12 exam). If you are non-native English, you get 30mins extra (only 15mins was allowed in v12). Additionally, in previous exams, some questions weren’t scored & used for other purposes. This is not the case with this new exam. ALL QUESTIONS ARE SCORED. Keep this in mind when taking the exam. All questions are multiple choice only. No True/False; no “fill in the blank” so to speak. All questions are what they are. And lastly, previous exams had a passing score of 720. The VMCE+ requires a score of 724 to pass. For detailed information, you can download the Exam Blueprint here.
If you do take the new exam, I’d really like to hear about your experience and what you think the new exam is like (within Veeam’s NDA, of course). Write a post here in the VMCE+ Study Hall and let us know.
Cheers!
