This is the final episode of my four-part blog series about the Veeam Data Platform: Monitor, Manage, Analyze (Veeam ONE) course on Veeam University Pro. Make sure to also have a look at the first ones:

Two days ago I finished this Veeam ONE Essentials course on https://www.veeam.com/support/training/veeam-university-pro.html, including the final exam. I want to share my experience with the course, especially from the perspective of someone already familiar with Veeam ONE and currently preparing for VMCE+.

Course Progress and Content Focus

Modules 9-11 focus mainly on operational and analytical depth:

  • Customizing reports to match specific operational or management requirements
  • Designing dashboards, including layout, widgets and meaningful visual aggregation
  • Advanced reporting techniques, with a strong focus on deployment projects

Deployment projects were actually new to me. I had not used them before, and this module was the first time I really understood their purpose and value. For me, this was clearly one of the hidden gems of the course.

Exam and Additional Material

Module 11 also includes:

  • The downloadable eBook
  • The final exam

The exam consists of 50 questions. I took it immediately after finishing the module, without any additional preparation.
Result: 40 out of 50 questions correct, which was sufficient to pass and receive the course exam certification.

From my perspective, the exam questions were noticeably harder than the quizzes at the end of each module. Someone without prior hands-on experience with Veeam ONE will likely need more than one attempt to pass.

For me, this means one thing:
I am now ready to register for the real VMCE+ exam, at least from the Veeam ONE perspective. As I already own an active VMCE certification, I now also have to sit the VRO course on Veeam University.

Module 12: A Special Case

This one is different from the rest of the course in several ways:

  • It is located after the exam
  • It uses a different speaker, now AI-based
  • Different music and presentation style

Module 12 was added later and covers all relevant changes introduced with Veeam ONE v13.
Important context:

  • Modules 1–11 are still based on V12
  • Module 12 serves as a V13 overview

I would not classify Module 12 as a training module in the strict sense. It feels more like a marketing-oriented overview. That said, it is still useful to have all V13 changes summarized in one place, especially in video form.

Final Summary

My overall conclusion regarding VeeamONE Essentials on veeamuniversity.com:

  • Very good starting point for anyone taking their first steps with Veeam ONE
  • For advanced users, there is limited new content, but some valuable details are still there
  • Deployment projects alone make the later modules worth watching
  • The course is mandatory preparation anyway for anyone targeting VMCE+

So my recommendation is simple:
Go ahead and dive into Veeam ONE Essentials on https://www.veeam.com/support/training/veeam-university-pro.html. I will continue with the VRO course and stay tuned for intel about that one. 😎

Yeah I found the module 12 very robotic with the AI speaking but it covered the most recent changes.  It will be nice when they update all the courses directly to v13 no more v12.  Great summary Michael.
