Veeam has recently announced that the VMCA program is being retired, with the final chance to take the exam on November 30, 2025.
After that date, VMCA will no longer be offered.
This decision is part of a larger shift in the Veeam Education Program. Partners and customers are encouraged to keep updating their skills, as Veeam wants to focus more on current trends like AI-powered recovery and advanced cloud integration.
Why Is It Ending?
- Market Evolution: The world of backup and recovery is changing rapidly with the growth of edge computing, zero-trust security, and multi-cloud environments.
- While VMCA was useful, it doesn’t cover all the new features in Veeam Backup & Replication v12 and later versions.
- Updating Partner Compliance: Previously, VMCA was a requirement for ProPartner status along with VMCE.
- Now, the new requirement is VMCE plus the upcoming Veeam Certified Security Expert (VMCSE) certification, which will be available by the end of 2025. This new structure offers a more relevant curriculum that better matches enterprise challenges.
- Efficiency and Accessibility: By simplifying the program, Veeam can focus more on on-demand training and short, focused content—perfect for professionals with busy schedules.
In short, this isn’t a step back, but a step forward.
Existing VMCA holders don’t need to worry—their certification is still valid, but upgrading to VMCSE is advised for compliance.
Looking to the Future: Welcome to VMCSE and More
Good news is, this change isn’t the end—rather, it’s the start of something new.
The Veeam Certified Security Expert (VMCSE) will become the top certification. Expect detailed modules on advanced troubleshooting, security, and orchestration—ideal for senior roles and architects. Exams are set to launch by the end of 2025, and training will be fully aligned with the latest Veeam features.
And don’t forget the on-demand learning options through Veeam University PRO—perfect for self-paced study.
Conclusion: A new chapter begins
The end of VMCA does not mark the end of excellence in Veeam architecture, but the start of a more relevant era. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced professional, invest in knowledge, because in IT, standing still means falling behind.
The logical step is to move with this change and move this group from VMCA Study Hall to VMCSE Study Hall.
In the coming time, more content related to the components covered in this new certification will be added.
Everyone is free to contribute and respond here, all to help each other grow.
