VeeamON 2024 - Use Code "COMMUNITY10" for 10% Off!
C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Malware_Detection_Logs
Create a shortcut on your desktop as a huge time saver as many of the files I had were not malware and continue to show up. Use the size of the log files to compare. They shouldn’t grow or change by a huge amount. You could script something to check vs the previous days and email yourself the changes, but hopefully in the next few versions of Veeam some of this gets fine tuned a bit. I have many false positives, but I did actually find some ransomware files using this feature from about 8 years ago which was interesting.
C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Malware_Detection_Logs Hey Scott, based off the Malware event he posted, his event is for Inline Entropy scans. When that is used, there is no Malware_Detection_Logs folder and subsequent log file. That is only used for File System Analysis scans. Oh I misread that. Thanks
Congrats. This was a fun event
What a change. Sounds alot like my environment when I started. That is a ton of issues. I try and re read the best practices often to keep it in my brain for each upgrade.
Very nice. I’ll use these often. Thanks
I still prefer on prem due to the unknowns that sometimes happen with cloud. Things designed for the cloud work great in cloud, however, I’ve seen too many companies lift and shift their entire infrastructure and are shocked.
Hot Patching is going to be amazing. Better AD performance is exciting too.
Just an FYI here - if you use Agent backups you can do App Aware processing for Win2025. 😉 Cool find, I’m just about to do some 2025 testing myself
There product looks solid, and easy to use. It will require a large amount of network ports, and it’s still spinning disk. The “landing zone” isn’t deduped or compressed so it will be faster to retrieve than the archive tier which is. Faster is still only as fast as the spinning disks can handle. If you want to bring up an entire environment from backups, an all flash array will be your best bet.
Great recap and cool posts. It’s been a crazy few weeks and I need to catchup on the posts!
Another god one. I’m enjoying the new calculators. They came out right before my next storage/server refresh too which has been helpful. The bill is never going to make the bossy happy when it’s in PB’s :)
Good information. Many of us are heavy into Windows only. I’m going to try Linux next so I’ll be keeping this handy!
Nice post. It’s difficult to get everything green!
This has been a fantastic tool and looks great. Love the UI as well.
I just checked this out and one of my coworkers is looking into Splunk. Seems like a lot to learn but it will be worth it.
