This is awesome! Thanks

Great Recap. I enjoyed this :)
I have pretty decent servers and leave hardware compression off on my LTO8’s as Veeam already compresses it. Perhaps I’ll do a side by side comparison to see what the differences are between Veeam only, Hardware only, and both.
That’s unfortunate. I posted a lot in the R+D forums. I probably can’t change my email as I have an account under this email address as well in the forums. I had my work email and a second email set up. If I ever switched jobs I wanted to keep my account if I lost my email. Oh well. I’ll just start utilizing this account more. I have a pretty large VMware and Veeam environment so I often help users in there with my previous experiences. Hi @Scott :) Nice to meet you! Yes, we are also going to look into your activity in the R&D forums ! But we would love to have you active in the Community Hub as well! Sounds good. I’ll start hanging out in here more :)
As a FC user “Backup from Storage Snapshot” or “Direct Storage” are worth EVERY penny. My backups are super fast, and it eliminated the issues I was having when my giant VM’s would stun after a VMware snapshot would grow too much. For me it is the best method, but you will need to test for yourself. If you have small VM’s with minimal change, hotadd seems to work very well. There is a few minutes needed to prep the storage snaps on the SAN before the backup begin and afterwards to remove them. If you have a tiny VM with no change it would most likely be backed up in less time that the snapshot takes take. Even on my smaller VM’s I use storage snapshots now to keep things consistent however and have had no issues for a few years.
Hi Paul, The frequency of backup to tape is daily, I thought about using the schedule option "As new backup files appear". and yes I plan to make all backups to tape. Regards Tommy If your jobs run within the window I think this is a good way to go. I have many servers that are 30TB and above which would run over 24 hours causing me issue where the incremental would fail following a full.

I’d love to become a Veeam legend. I post more in the R+D forums, but am always happy to help out. @Scott If you are posting in the R&D forums, make sure to use here and in the forum the same mail address. Then add your forum nick name to your profile here. https://community.veeam.com/settings/profile This will make sure, that you are getting points from your R&D forum posts. :) I’ve mostly been using a different email for my posts I just realized. :( Is there a way to link that or not?

Veeam One is the tool you are looking for.
Still need to write mine, been using Veeam a few years, took the course, and after doing a few practice tests it was pretty eye opening it isn’t an easy exam.
Nice, I like immediate to get everything copied over high bandwidth, but if your jobs are running over 24 hours this is a good work around. Another option is to schedule things in a more parallel format, or recommend higher bandwidth.
CDP and hopefully some of the small tape hiccups ironed out. Already using Veeam for Tape in test and so far it’s great.
Great post. Didn’t know that about RVTools
Hello. I’ve been in I.T. for about 17 years. Jack of all trades from Backup / DR, VMware, SAN, Networking, Hardware, Server Administration and still learning :) I have been the “Veeam” guy at work for a while now and have configured our infrastructure from the ground up.
