Veeam Kasten v9.0  brings enterprise-grade resilience for Kubernetes workloads, including modern applications, virtual machines, and emerging AI data services. As Kubernetes adoption continues to scale, Veeam Kasten v9.0 focuses on improving efficiency, visibility, and protection across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Key Features include:

  • AWS-backed Veeam Vault integration, expanding backup storage options with a managed cloud storage tier
  • Enhanced integration with Veeam Backup & Replication, enabling Kubernetes backups to be stored in native Veeam format
  • Export to multiple locations, increasing resilience by allowing backup copies to be stored in additional repositories
  • Hardened Kasten pods with read-only root filesystems, aligning with NIST 800-190 container security guidelines
  • Blueprints for custom resources and AI databases, enabling application-consistent backups for modern Kubernetes data services
  • OpenShift Virtualization incremental backup API, reducing compute overhead and improving backup efficiency for VM workloads
  • Admission controller policy enforcement, enabling granular, environment-specific governance for actions and restore points
  • Datamover performance optimizations, reducing resource usage and improving backup and export efficiency
  • Improved observability with OpenShift Advanced Cluster Management, providing centralized visibility across Kasten deployments in Red Hat environments
  • Label-based VM protection policies, enabling dynamic VM protection using Kubernetes labels
  • Data Command Center integration, providing a unified view of backup coverage, risk, and audit readiness

Veeam Kasten v9.0 focuses on improving scale, efficiency, and visibility while expanding support for mixed Kubernetes, VM, and modern data workloads.

Nice to see how this product has progressed, and I guess no time like the present to dive in.

Just FYI for those reading this, the “Release Notes” page only goes to 8.5.8, so I am sure the 9.0 release will be updated soon.

Ah, well, then that explains why the release notes are not updated.  😂

Looking forward to GA as I need to look at VCF and VKS backups now.
