What an awesome day!  The GA of v13 and now we can get to work on upgrades and eventual migrations to VSA appliances.

Seeing some great updates on the Nutanix AHV side, looking forward to getting going on 13.

Worst update ever.  The software is majorly bloated to begin with as we all know.  This upgrade takes it to another lever.  It literally takes hours to complete and encountered several notices of services failed to start, which have to be started manually for the upgrade to finalize.  A quick search finds tons of users having issues even installing v13 from scratch.  Veeam’s official “fix” for one of the issues that is often reported is to change the backup service in the registry, so it waits 5 mins to startup before timing out.  Seriously???  A service should NEVER have to take 5 mins to start, and that is not an acceptable fix.  You need to go back to the code and optimize it, or at least get “enough” of the process loaded quickly so the application can launch and then present us with a “Loading” indicator.  Back to the upgrade experience… When I finally got everything back up, and I excitedly attempted to use the web UI which they tout as the biggest feature improvement ever… it loads the web page, but then a big popup comes up when you try to login, that tells you it requires an enterprise license!  What?!?!  I went back and looked at all documentation and release notes and nowhere is this mentioned!  I didn’t hesitate a second before reverting back to my snapshot I thankfully made before the upgrade.  I will happily stick with v12 community edition for now.
