Hello Veeam Community!

I’m thrilled to write my first post here and what better topic than the big news that just dropped? For those who haven’t heard yet, Veeam have officially acquired Object First! 🎉

As someone who’s been working with Object First’s immutable storage solution a few month at G0T0, I can confidently say: this is a game-changer for data protection, and here’s why.

🔍 Why This Acquisition Matters

Object First isn’t just another backup appliance—it’s purpose-built for immutability, designed to eliminate ransomware risks and simplify compliance.

At G0T0, we’ve been deploying them for our clients, and the results speak for themselves:

✅ True Immutability Out of the Box

No misconfigurations (the #1 cause of failed restores).

Hardware-enforced immutability (not just software-based).

✅ Blazing-Fast Deployment

Pre-optimized for Veeam, so setup takes minutes.

✅ Cost-Effective & Predictable

No hidden licensing fees or undesirable maintenance surprises.

🚀 What This Means for the Veeam Ecosystem

Now that Veeam own Object First, expect:

🔹 Deeper integration with Veeam Data Platform.

🔹 Unified support (no more juggling multiple vendors).

🔹 Faster innovation.

Bottom line: If you’ve been waiting for a simple, secure, and cost-effective way to achieve immutable backups, this is it—and we’ve already proven it works.

💬 Your Turn: What’s Your Immutability Strategy?

I’d love to hear from the community:

Are you already using Object First or another immutable solution?

Planning to migrate soon? What’s holding you back?

Drop a comment below, I’m happy to share our experiences, lessons learned, or even help with troubleshooting!

Hi @morgan.munck -

Well done on your 1st post! 😊

I do use immutability myself, but I manually configure it on iSCSI-connected storage to a couple Ubuntu physical boxes from Nimble. As a SMB, works pretty good for me for now.

Best.

hi @morgan.munck welcome in this crazy community 🤣

With my company we have deployed some appliance for our clients.

After this acquisition I’ll expect the future Veeam Edge Appliance (presented at the Veeam100 Summit in Prague) will be based on Object First.

Our strategy? If it’s possible we start immutability from first tier, perhaps based on VHR as performance tier and Object First as capacity tier.

My 2cents

Really like this topic @morgan.munck

I have one OOTBI appliance that I test with in one of our DCs and also have the 3-node VSA in my HomeLab.  We tend to use Object Storage with Immutability (Pure Flashblade) here where I work but have a lot of block storage still.  We are in the process of converting but Immutability is the way to go moving forward I think.
