Offsite is absolutely a thing and very important, but a USB drive can fail easily and the USB protocol is not that stable for something like backups, we don’t talk about hardening / security here either.
For offsite backup I’m indeed with Chris, you can consider Wasabi or Veeam Data Cloud Vault. If you prefer on-prem solutions you can simply go with tape (LTO-9 / 10) or you could consider small servers as hardened repositories based on Linux.
Another options would be appliances like OOTBI (Object First).
