... by the way, fantastic argument from @Dynamic. Your perspective genuinely got me thinking for a while, and I believe the last two comments reinforced that point even further.

> That is true. And that is false. Here’s why

Now we have another “split vote” moment 😄 as @lukas.k also explored both sides of the argument. By the way, your response was absolutely spot on. From a security-focused perspective, the reasoning was very balanced and technically sound, Cheers!

That said, there is what we call gabage in, gabage out (GIGO). I think part of the challenge here is that some of us are interpreting the question from a broader cybersecurity standpoint rather than focusing specifically on the ransomware component itself ”Immutable backups are the only effective defense against ransomware” as it pertains to this question only.

> Im gunna have to go with Against, as much as it feels almost a little wrong

> Yes, immutability plays a huge part on defending against ransomware, having been called in for a customer who lost literally everything in an attack, and I really mean everything, and the only thing left standing that actually saved their bacon was their Veeam immutable repository, it is super important for ensuring backups cant be changed after the backup window.
> However, attackers are clever, and its not enough, you need robust security tools to detect when the enter your environment.

This is beautiful @leaha, because it perfectly reflects the concept of cyber resilience bridging the gap between the cyberattack and the ransomware demand itself which is similar to the earlier Object First exam question above.

Now we all have agreed that layered security matters; it absolutely does. But then, only @Madi.Cristil can truly determine the intended interpretation (outcome) of the question and the direction of the debate. But regardless of which side we stand on, this has been an excellent discussion with very strong technical perspectives from both camps.

Another interesting aspect of this debate is that the strongest arguments from both sides will earn badges. That already shows the goal here is not just to “win,” but to encourage strong technical reasoning and learning from opposing perspectives 😀

Ohhhhh…. @Scott ...wants to debate FC vs iSCSI???? GAME ON BUD! 😂🤣🤣💪🏻

Haha if this one comes up it’s on!!!!

I actually use both and both have valid reasons to be used.
