Veeam Nutanix AHV Worker not Deleting Snapshots

We’re in the process of migrating from VMWare to Nutanix and have a brand new Veeam installation and repo and we’re testing the backup configurations right now. What we’re seeing is that there is a 60 day expiration on the snapshots Veeam creates during a backup in Nutanix and it doesn’t clean any of them up following the backup. It just keeps stacking snapshots every time it runs and we need it to run daily. In the end we’ll have nearly 300 servers in this environment some of them absolutely massive. Is there a configuration I’m somehow missing here?

Unless someone who’s had a similar issue chimes in...your best bet is to reach out to Veeam Support @BP2026 . They should be able to help you on this.

I would agree with Shane just because this is Nutanix with probably not many here using it other than a niche group.  There could be something within the Veeam components causing the issue.

Yes - i haven’t seen this issue with Nutanix, however I have seen on VMware from time to time. Let us know what support comes back with.

I’ve encountered this issue in my deployments as well. I got the response that Veeam needs these snapshots for the next backup.

However, these snapshots shouldn’t grow in size and should remain on the VMs without using any storage space.

But the best way is to open a Veeam Ticket and they should check if its normal an if there is more than one.

@BP2026 are these replicated snapshots? Nutanix add 60 days to this. We have no control over what snapshots are replicated to another cluster. As was mentioned above opening up a support ticket will probably help in the diagnoses😀.
