Hello folks,
I asked to the forum but maybe one of you have the answer.
I configured a Veeam Azure Appliance, my policy is the following:
Daily
Snapshots:
Create 6 snapshots and keep 24 snapshots
Backups:
Create 1 backup per day and keep for 30 days

Weekly
Create restore point at:
12:00 AM
Snapshots:
Keep 1 weekly snapshot (6 days excluded)
Backups:
Keep weekly backups for 1 month (6 days excluded)

Monthly :
Create restore point on:
1st day of the month at 12:00 AM
Snapshots:
Keep 1 monthly snapshot
Backups:
Keep monthly backups for 12 months

My VAB is linked to a VBR. On my VBR when I browse the backup properties for each instance I see only Full Backup (vbk files), is that normal with VAB or I miss something ?

I don’t use VAB myself @Stabz , but I find that “interesting” if the case. I see in the VAB Guide that Incrementals are a part of the backup chain:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbazure/guide/backup_chain_vm.html?ver=8

Why you’re only seeing Fulls is odd. I wonder if anyone else has this same behavior?

What do you see when you view the restore points in protected data section of the web ui? Does it show sizes of incremental backups there?

In the Protected Data I have this no information about the increments :

In the log I see different size every day in the transferred size.

My guess is that that Veeam console is not fully aware of the individual restore point sizes, and is just showing you the total size of the backup chain. Based on you seeing differing transferred data sizes I’m sure they must be incremental. This as well confirms that a Forever-Forward Incremental chain is being used.

Perhaps this could be an area of improvement for the Veeam console.

Yeah...I shared a link from the VAB Guide that Incrementals are indeed done. I recommend getting with Veeam Support to see if there’s a bug in the View, or the fact the Console doesn’t show the Incrementals for some reason.
