hello everyone,

I have already made a sizing of tape consumption using https://calculator.veeam.com/vbr/ & https://rps.dewin.me/rpc/

with

Total Data :109 TB & backup policy

daily : 6, weekly : 4, Monthly: 12

so i want to know that, how many tape cartridges LTO9 do i need for a month ?

is it right if i use formula

in the first month :

Full (120/18 = 7) + Incremental (30/18=2) + 3 weeks (180/19=10) + 1 month(60/18=3) = 22 Tape Catridges LTO 9

in the second month :

Full (120/18 = 7) + Incremental (30/18=2) + 3 weeks (180/19=10) + 1 month(60/18=3) = 22 Tape Catridges LTO 9

so for 2 month I need 44 Tape catridges LTO 9

You also need to look at capacity of the LTO9 tapes which is 18TB native and 45TB compressed at the best scenario.  Is compression enabled on your tape drive if so you may not need as many.  The calculations above are good just look at tape capacity now.

Hello, if you are using Veeam compression there is not benefits to enable compression drives from my POV.

Could you tell me what value (size) did you pick for LTO9 Tape? Veeam see 16.2~ TB per Tape due to overhead.
