I think around version 2. Don't recall the year. It's been a while though.
2017 with V9.5.
My first task with a Veeam product was to build a Cloud Connect Environment. I haven‘t any experience with veeam until then.
I started at version 5 That was a looking time ago!
I have worked with Veeam in 2016 for the first time.
When I started at my current company in 2017 I first used the Veeam solutions. I was before already familiar and specialised in other backup-products but when I used Veeam more and more, I started to love this product and find it better than all other backup products I worked with. In a short period I became the most specialised Veeam person in my company, I took the VMCE course, studied, did my exam and became a VMCE, I took the VMCE-AD course, studied and did my exam and became a VMCA. Since then I’m responsable for the backup and disaster recovery category and being the Veeam product owner and the Veeam expert. Now being the only Legend in my country, no one will doubt on my opinion regarding Veeam products . So in years not the most experienced engineer, but installed it already very often, solved many many cases, have created many backup designs and implemented them.
It was 2015 for me in Munich
early in 2011; was like Version 5 as far as I remember.
2011, around the time that SureBackup became a feature.
If I dont remember bad, it was in 2015!
2017 with V9.5. I setup the Veem B&R to protect the VMs in my lab environment.
I first installed it for a client in 2012 and started replacing all of my client base backups with it within weeks. I had been using this fancy tool called “Fast SCP” for years before that and thought it was handy so maybe this backup software will be ok.
Then when I started learning about the company I realized that I had used a Ratmir tool several years earlier put out by Quest Software to migrate a client from Novell Groupwise to Microsoft Exchange.
I was a repeat customer and didn’t even know it.

Groupwise.. ah i tanked one of those once. If my memory has not deceived me, it had like a thounsand (exaggerating ) Dos boxes that would pop up. Long time ago and many beers past so this could be fuzzy.
As for me don’t quite remember the year (2013? maybe) but it was version 7. I remember having to test IBM Tivoli for Virtual Environments (or some name like that) against Veeam. For Tivoli you needed a PHD in psychology just to read the instructions. When I finally got it working and showed it to a potential customer, they were like. “uh thanks but… we will pass”, luckily I had tested Veeam so I said “would you prefer this by any chance”. It was love at first sight.

yes, TSM for VE was a very special thing…… Afterit finally worked in an environment, don’t touch it anymore. Otherwise you will definitely need a psychologist….
