I been trying to resote a vmware backup to a proxmox server but I can see the server and I can choose the datastore in the proxmox server but it always fails with “ Failed to prepare disk”

It doesn’t matter what type of file type I choose. Has anyone been able to get passed this?

What specifically are you doing?  What version of Veeam are you using?  Did you check the logs here - C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup?

We need more details as things are unclear to try and give some suggestions.

Veeam version 12.3.2.445, Proxmox 9.1.1 and the logs I am in the \backup folder but I don’t see any log that was created at the time I was doing the restore. I am trying to basically restore a esxi vm from a veeam backup job to a proxmox server. I want to create a test environment.

In a way, I am trying to migrate a vmware vm to a proxmox server using the last backup we have.

@ebarrios - you should be able to do this as noted in the VBR User Guide:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/userguide/restore_prox.html?ver=13

Where in the process is your restore failing? What version of Veeam B&R are you using? v12? v13? Restore error logs would be located %ProgramData%\Veeam\Backup \<vm-folder\VM.<vm-name>.Restore.log>
