Any idea when Veeam Agent for windows 13 will resume working after april windows update ?

Hello,

as in the title, given the software stopped being able to make backups after the April windows update that changed vss and a few other things , is there anyone knowing when the situation may get fixed ?

And will be fixed with an update to Agent , or need to wait for a new monthly update from microsoft ?

I’m a bit new but other vendors have been I think more vocal publishing info and/or in some cases updates to their software , while I think I didn’t see anything about Agent

Hello,

From what I’ve seen, this seems more related to the recent Microsoft updates affecting VSS/WMI behavior than a specific Veeam Agent bug.

I’d suggest checking vssadmin list writers, Event Viewer logs, and whether the issue started after a specific KB update.

It may also be worth opening a support case with Veeam Software to confirm if this is a known issue related to the latest Windows patches.

I think in this case you will need to wait on MS to address this since it does not seem to be a bug within the Veeam Agent itself.  You can check on the forums too and see if it was reported to get better feedback on a timeline or ETA - https://forums.veeam.com

Yes, I know is about VSS now hanging. But since I read that some other competitor got around this by some update on their side, was worth asking. I know that different software rely on different ways to obtain the same result… just was wondering if there was some notification because a very weird rumor I got is that there is not going to be any fix from microsoft until june

@mazzinia - your best bet is to contact Veeam Product Managers directly by inquiring to them on the Forums as Chris suggested. No doubt they’ve probably heard about this issue. Maybe they can provide more info on a potential patch/fix on the way.

Inquiring on the forums seems having some slight issues ? I don’t have a support case ID obviously and should not need one for this kind of question. This seems all a big waste of my time. I like veeam as a product but clearly there are things to improve for customer support… not going to be bothered to have to rewrite something again

Topic disapproved: "Inquiry about current Agent 13 issues with windows"

Reason: You must include support case ID when posting about any technical issue, as requested when you click New Topic..”

Not sure what else to suggest here, then.  Maybe contacting your Veeam rep?  Other than support or the forums, technical issues will not be addressed here in the same manner.

I am using the free version, not a paid version. The issue is nonetheless impacting both. I cannot open a case even if i wanted , to get an ID, because to open a case it’s required to provide a business email.

I am a private consultant and my business email is a public one and is refused by the system.

Seems to me a big short circuit. I cannot post on that forum if I don’t have a case ID ( and I don’t need a case ID since I’m not asking about a specific problem with just my own installation but a widespread issue that seems nobody is mentioning openly…. macrium and a lot of others are openly publishing about this ) so it gets closed. If I try to open a case id to then post, I get asked to upgrade and put my full data… and it fails since I use a public email as business email and the system blocks it ( which email I use is my personal decision and nobody can force me in this sense unless veeam wants to pay me for a thing that i don’t need to pay ) so here we are.

Sorry if I’m harsh , but … seems like trying to ask for an industrial secret. I picked veeam for my needs because by my research was the most reliable option, but this whole secrecy or silence is way disappointing alongside the inability to actually inquire about a simple thing : when the software will restart working.

I can wait patiently if I have a date, and i can perform a workaround if the company says clearly that there is a temporary workaround. But I don’t think that an announcement was released about the issue, about possible workarounds and such.

Not exactly asking for the moon, I think… just what normally should happen

EDIT. I’m on win11 pro for workstation so I’m on some serious xeon hardware. I’m not going to apply a workaround found online and confirmed working for a different backup software unless the actual company of the software i’m using states that such workaround IS working also for their own software without drawbacks.
