Adding Licenses to Veeam Backup for 365

Did you get your existing license updated to get the additional licenses added? Or is the new .lic file only the 35 more licenses? There’s no way for you to top up licenses like that, you’d need to reach out to Veeam to get a consolidated license file.

If you added users to your lic file you should be able to use the “Update Now” button as is shared in the VB365 Update License section of the Guide:

You should be able to combine licenses within your my.veeam.com Portal. If you don't have the Option let Support to assist you. 

In the end you should have a single *.lic File that include all your licenses.

You can try the steps below to merge your licenses.

I just took a look at the email my manager sent me (as he did the purchasing) and it shows the product and license information as Quantity:35 users, so it looks like this file is just the additional 35. I just logged into my.veeam.com and I see under VB365 I have a 75 user license, and the new 35 user license showing with ‘get license key’ links next to each one. 

I also see ‘License Merge’ on that page but it’s greyed out.

You are not a License Administrator, only License Adminstrator can do this process. Ask your amanager to assign your account as a License Adminstrator or ask him to help you to merge them.

You’ll need to ask the License Admin or Veeam Support to merge the license for you ​@Flinktron 

Thanks everyone! I will look into having my manager merge, or make me a license administrator so that I can attempt the merge. If I continue to have issues I will open a support ticket.

My manager attempted to merge, but cancelled the merge as it was showing the 2025 expiration date of our existing licenses, where the 35 extra we bought expire in 2026. Is this normal, or should I reach out to support? I just want to make sure this doesn’t make the 35 new licenses also expire in 2025. Can we request that license files provided in the future contain all users so we can just easily replace the license next time?

Yes..per the KB link I shared. The lic expiry will be of the earliest of the 2 licenses. Not sure there’s a way around this. Contacting Support is your best bet.

You need to contact the Veeam Renewals Team by filling out the Renewal Request form for the Co-terming (licenses involves taking two or more contracts and aligning their contract expiration dates, allowing the multiple contracts to become a single, easier-to-manage contract).
