Hi All,

Has anyone seen hotadd Linux (Rocky 9.7) VM proxies go sideways and not mount after upgrading to v13? I also added a new v13 appliance proxy and the result were the same. Changing transports to net work fine. On this client side logging it shows:

Error: Access to [/dev/sdb] is denied.
Failed to check whether access to path is granted
Failed to open disk for write.
Failed to download disk 'snapshot-909174XXXX'.

CC tenant job logging has:

<842>    Info (3)    Skipping VcdDatastore (VcdRef=[urn:vcloud:datastore:GUIDXXXXXX], Name=[*CLIENT_DS*]) because it does not have valid underlying vCenter resources

VCSA 8.3

VCD 10.4x

VBR 13

Rocky 9.7 latest Kernel.

We have a Sev1 open but its currently pending logging reviews.

I’ve seen similar things, haven’t had the time to investigate the root case, and I’ve switched the proxies to ndb mode for now.

Cloud Connect replication has always been a bit finicky with hotadd

I would continue on with your P1 with support to get to the bottom of this.  Changing the mode is a workaround to me and they should be able to address the root of the issue.

Hi @RPS1 ,

Yes, are you a Service Provider?

>Error: Access to [/dev/sdb] is denied.

Can you please ask your engineer to review case 07917164 and see if it applies. There was an issue with VCC environments where linux-based proxies would fail to read with hotadd. I am not sure on the status of a private fix, but the main issue seems similar.

As an immediate workaround, switch to NBD for the transport mode or spin up a Windows based proxy temporarily.

Edit: for future readers, this only potentially applies to Veeam Cloud Connect and v13.0.x; if your version is newer or not related to anything Cloud connect, a Support case will be required.

Glad to assist, @RPS1

There is an internal support document ID I can share also, your Support Engineer will likely have better luck with this:

KB0047494

(Internal KB, not publicly accessible)
